Um no, you said you had a problem with Musk because some of his ideas (in your opinion) are bullshit. And people just blindly lap them up because of the image.

That's what i was replying to. Pretty straightforward.
Your reply was to belittle me based on some idea that "australians cut down people that are successful", taking a stance that his entrepreneurialism excuses him from criticism. I didnt begin any shitflinging here unless you for some reason took offence to being one of the people lapping his rhetoric up.

Your reply was laced in sarcasm.

You basically implied that I was a sucker.

Hence my reply.

Never said he was above criticism.

And yes your put down if the guy smacks of TPS... And that's how I read it. If I was wrong then I apologise.

Carry on.

Got a German shep pup a couple weeks ago

Named him billings

Shit name is it?

Didn't think so
My mum got a dog in 1994, she named him Plugger. The bloody dog lived for 10 years.

Barker would be a great name for a dog.

So you'd be happy to be held responsible for the "actions" of an automated car that decided running over someone was better than hitting another car?

Like I said - interesting conundrum.

Thankfully it won't be an issue for me. I like driving!!!

On K107 using BigFooty.com mobile app
Listened to a really interesting podcast in which they likened the current ethical dilemmas associated with driverless cars to the famous trolley problem.

If a driverless car has to “make a decision” between hitting a pedestrian or swerving out of the way and potentially killing the driver, which should it be programmed to choose? An engineer for Mercedes said the cars will swerve to avoid the pedestrian. Who’s going to buy a car knowing that it will deliberately kill you in order to save someone else?

It also discussed the idea that the sensors on these cars will get so good that they will be able to not only detect a pedestrian, but also that pedestrian’s age, gender, race etc. If there is a young child in a car which is about to hit two elderly people, does the car swerve and kill the child or does it instead take age into account and kill the elderly people?

Essentially, decisions are going to have to be made and algorithms developed that place different values on human life. Interesting stuff.

mars is part of the St Kilda heart land i mean the planet is one third our colour scheme :)
surely the money we can make out of selling a home game to an entire planet would be more than that of NZ and Tassie combined

its an absolute disgrace that our admin hasnt done this yet

apparently they're keen as, they expect aussie rules participation rates on mars to go through the roof when we get there. apparently we could be the most popular sport on the planet.

i bet grant thomas and ross lyon are going to poo poo the idea though because of travel

cup of concrete stuff if you ask me, its modern sport. players should be used to travel

If it's anything like the moon, you can slot a goal from the kick out... One way to break the zone.

Watch us commit to Mars for the next 100 years, and finally start getting decent crowds and showing a financial return in the year 2115, only to see Eddie McGuire III pinch the gig in an under the table deal with the World Football League's Carlotta McLachlan-McGuire

Was watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on Netflix last night. The disappearance that the film was based around was being discussed and then the date mentioned. September 24, 1966. Hang on a minute I said to myself.....wasn’t all bad that day.

Thats the thing, it would certainly have to tell the difference between a small child and a dog. That's probably one of the reasons that a lot of observers think
the cars will need laser radar , ( currently 70K price ) and not just optical sensors ( as currently used by Tesla ).

The swerving thing is not a death sentence.
Cars can go into a wall at 60km/h and occupants survive possibly not even injured. The computer presumably can also decide what and where it hits.
Hit a pedestrian at 60... shit.

I just feel they are still inventing the questions , let alone answering the answers. That's why i think its further away than some of the people are saying.

The motor vehicle was invented over 100 years ago and we're still learning, adapting, and legislating around that. As soon as a functioning form of the technology becomes affordable it will kick away and we will spend the next 100 years learning and adapting.

The choice the machine will be programmed to make will have no value judgements in it. If there are two objects in it's path it will be programmed to steer in the direction that gives it the best opportunity to stop. But we all know that accidents will be unavoidable. If you have cruise control engaged in your car now and plow into the back of a vehicle who is responsible? I think it follows on logically from there.

The vehicle you ploughed into because chances are it's sitting 10 below in lane whilst the driver fiddles with their phone.

The one I was looking at was the Daniel Craig one. I think I started watching the Swedish one, or have seen part of it. Can’t quite remember. Will look for it again. Great story. Haven’t read the book though.
