So what exactly should we do about the current climate of the league? I feel we need to get back to making contributions instead of whining and this will require an attitude shift from the entire league. Opposing factions need to put aside differences and start adding something. At the end of the day we're all here for fun, enjoyment, a bit of escapism perhaps and we'd all be better off if the SFA is happier place. Rodney's light-hearted thread, dogs' nice guys thread, or thought provoking ideas like Juggs' relegation concept are steps in the right direction. A few more suggestions for good thread concepts could include:

• a mock All-SFA team to create debate over who's worthy of nomination/selection
• Mobbs Medal and Finals previews (safe bet for any newer posters looking to get into media)
• core posters rankings thread (recycled idea but been a few seasons since we've had it so should be fresh)
• a media thread for a compilation of witty, humorous, quality match thread posts to gain greater audience
• Interview this season's rookies, get their perspective on their first season experiences in the league

In any case, that's the end of this rant for me. If you were looking for a TL;DR my thoughts could be summarised in the next sentence.

Too many people involved in this league are in it for themselves rather than improving the league and looking at the big picture.

The problem with the ignore button, as I found out on the Richmond board before 2017 , is that it makes a thread disjointed and hard to follow at times.
Plus, if you really don't like someone it's better to laugh at them.

I'm one of the biggest supporters of these games. Saying that the last SoO was a bust and the SPC which was great in theory and kicked off well ended up with too many games in the short window allowed it and fizzled out by the finals. We're certainly due another go at it though.

I don't feel the urge to go around in circles with the same meaningless discussions over and over, especially with people who can not be civil about situations.

There is no boys club that is controlling the league and the league is not dying. That's all there is to it - rather simpe.

Instead, while being very aware I am working on the following with various posters: Mobbenfuhrer Medal night, All-SFA night, MVP, 2 off-season events (been in the committee this season, FR?), recruiting tactics. I agree though, very MIA.

All for the enjoyment of everyone in the league, including those who insult & piss and moan over the league & the work others (stats, simmers, committee, media) put into the league and throw baseless accusations that the league is somehow rigged.

The league has become too 'friendly' for want of a better word.

I'm not sure coming together is the answer unless sao is your choice of savoury cracker.

Division is what makes this league thrive.

Run the Boys club out of town and watch the league return to its former glory.

I absolutely agree that division and conflict makes the league thrive. I love antagonism, I love watching villains drive people into complete meltdowns. Not so much when it's the same conflict for 6 months though. When I say come together I don't mean get in a circle, hold hands, sing kumbaya kind of thing. I mean that both groups should agree that this is becoming a bit shit and move on. Because I get the impression that the majority involved aren't really having fun arguing about. Allow some new more interesting conflicts to arise.

I'm not sure if we drive the Boys Club out it would resolve the issue because I think it runs deeper than that. If there's no Boys Club we'll take notice of other groups that are just as chummy. The Gentlemen's Club PM I've been told has over 200+ pages, we would need to drive them out next, then perhaps go after the Uncle Tony's House inhabitants who reside in the club room. The majority of this league belong to some kind of clique, in my view the league needs to judge people on the merits of what they post instead of the group they associate with. We need to create conflict between individuals, then the concept of cliques and clubs will disappear and the league will return to its 'glory days'.

I think Cloud_ has absolutely nailed it and yes, I’ve been guilty of some of the things mentioned in the OP but I am aware that it doesn’t help the league in the slightest.

That said, we all need to work together to make the SFA the best place to be.
