I just need to do something. I feel really helpless right now and I don't understand how these marks are possible. I know the atar isnt the only way to do well or get in but it's more that I set a goal and didnt reach it. and thanks J_Moore I will PM you now.

Eh, literally nobody gives a shit about your ATAR once you're into Uni. I know a bit about setting goals and not achieving them (ahem, set a goal of 97 and got 91 - although this was sheer laziness and lack of motivation on my part). You've always got bonus points, try looking at alternative universities.

Setting yourself on one particular course from one particular uni is something you shouldn't do. Take me, for example. I'm at UWS which is practically looked down upon for everything but medicine. My course, the university environment, the teachers, the people (well, most of them) are for the most part absolutely amazing. On par with and exceeding USyd in a lot of areas. I still love USyd and I'm applying to try and get there but if I don't I have no qualms about it. UWS is a fantastic uni. Course > Uni at all times.

Another thing you have to remember is that its not a race. We race into uni, we race to finish our degree, race to get a job. I had a stint of full time work this semester and its not pretty. Uni is amazing. Relax, do things at your own pace, get the best marks you possibly can and you'll be sweet.

The review thing with BOS - I'm willing to bet a crapload of HSC students are unhappy with their marks. Not sure about the HSC anymore but I know a review of grade at uni only reviews for clerical errors - get it for peace of mind but you shouldn't rest your hopes on it.

I know this may all seem like BS but try and get over your disappointment and stop beating yourself up about it. I spent a year regretting my HSC results. I was unhappy with my course, not pulling very good marks and feeling incredibly shit about wasting so much money. I wish I had someone tell me all of this before I wasted a year and $4000 in uni fees.

BUT - well done regardless. You're a smart girl, it'll all work out. If you need any advice, you have literally hundreds of people to turn to

To Vonn, you are probably feeling despondent now about your mark, but K is right, life has a funny way of working itself out, even if not in the way you expected. Stephanie Gardiner agrees. Don't rush into making a decision about your future straight away, take some time to consider what your options are, you might have to revise your expectations downwards first (at least in the short term) but I'm sure you'll find a way to get where you want to go. Chin up!

I know it's not even a bad ATAR, but only a perfectionist like myself could whinge over an ATAR like what I have... I guess their are people still struggling to get into uni, so I should be grateful I still have a lot of options open to me and get some perspective.

Anyway I know the ATAR isn't everything, just falling short of my goal when it was estimated I'd do higher and screwing up because of subjects that I smash just leave me irritated. But I will bounce back and shred first year. No sweat,

I'm looking at Comm/Arts at USyd (95.6) and Comm Lib at UNSW (96.8) and they're the only unis I'll look at. My heart is kind of set on USyd though.. Hm. Thoughts?

Yeah I got into a ExSci degree with an ATAR in the 80s. Worked out a few years late that I hated it, but that's beside the point.

BOS I'm going to appeal the shit out of you until you explain to me how the **** I could have ****ed up in my two best and favourite subjects and made me waste a whole year because **** you I don't do raw marks of 80 or so I'm not an idiot.

As much as I do enjoy following the odd Test match, you have to admit it's on the decline.

Not a fan of cricket but when Australia return to being a powerhouse everyone will jump on the bandwagon again. Poor test team = bad media, low crowds, lack of interest. = test cricket is doomed.

Sadly, I agree with Aussie Gun of his sumnation of the Australian public, when it comes to Cricket or possibly, sports in general.

However, I love all forms of Cricket and to be frank, with some of the results of Test Cricket of late, it has never been as this enjoyable for me, for quite sometime, I'm loving this Cricket season/year.

I cant stand test cricket, way too slow.. standing in the out field on a 30+ degree day for 3 days in a row playing fetch like a dim witted puppy, or sitting on the bench waiting to bat.. no thanks I can think of a 100 things Id rather be doing on a beautiful summers day..
Thats just the playing side of it, as for watching someone else do it?? Give me a nice hollow wave any day..
I dont mind beach/indoor/backyard but tests are boring.
