Gary Lyon was a great player. Twice as good as Baz.

Absolutely. Anyone who thinks Stoneham was a better player than Lyon is absolutely kidding themself. Lyon could and did win matches virtually by himself. I did see him go missing on occassions and that is why he's not an all time great, but he could really play on his day.

Gun.
Injuries ********ed him. I remember a few years ago he did a diary for the Herald Sun it was Stoneham in his own words and how he was dealing with his injuries...
Monday, did rehab, got on grog with Ricco later in day
Tuesday, more rehab, went to a cafe opening, got on grog with the boys in a big way
Wednesday, birthday, drank like a fish
Thursday, training, ran a couple of laps then drank with the trainers
Friday, rehab, got drunk on own
Saturday, gameday, hosted a supporters function, they like a drink
Sunday, recovery, kept drinking.
He liked a tipple Bazza.

Bazza was a different type of CHF to say, Hall, Brereton or Tredrea. Especially early on in his career, he wasn't the big, strong, buffeting type of bloke - instead he was a real workhorse at CHF, athletic and mobile. He was in the State team when he was 21 - a huge achievement esp. for a KPP. Yes, injuries ********ed him...

so you like to watch.

No. I find that if you give an opinion in the OP then the thread becomes about that opinion rather than the player and peoples thoughts of said player. I enjoy reading what others have to say.

A fully fit Barry Stoneham up forward I think would have made the difference in winning a premiership. Shame he was never fully fit in the mid 1990's, when the Cats had their chance.

Very good footballer.

It didn't in 1989 or 1992.

I doubt he would have made up 15 goals in 1994 or 1995.

Star at what ? Vfl Football as i doubt he was a star at afl level.
You doubt or you know. Don't guess if you didn't really see him play. As for him being a star at VFL level, that would have been difficult for him as the AFL clubs didn't play their reserves in the VFL when he was still playing.
