Ratts heaping the pressure on Bryce, I like it! The guy looks like Neo in the matrix while in congested situation and has a booming kick to go along with his great footy smarts. Needs to improve his work rate though and match Murph's output at the same age.

At the thought of Gibbs being better than Murphy and Judd, I am ready to explode.:D
This would make me explode

R: Kreuzer Judd Murphy
C: Yarran Robinson Gibbs

Five players who could all be A graders and one who could be our Luke Ball. Not a bad mix if you consider that Simpson, Scotland, Curnow, Carrazzo, Lucas, Ellard, Joseph, Walker, Garlett, Collins, Russell, Mclean and Kerr are capable of playing through the midfield. I hope Bootsma develops into a tall mid like Embley and Mundy.

Heard Bootsma chased down Yarran. If true, the boy has some serious toe.

Gibbs is the most talented #1 pick to come out of the system for the past 10 years. Ridiculously under-rated because he has a team-first obsession from his junior days, and hates talking about his own personal achievements and talents. I'd be very disappointed if he ended up as a Pendlebury type. Gibbs is a much higher grade talent, with much more upside and was showing some glimpses of that talent late in season 2011. On Yarran, you'll only catch him if he's hesitating and not in top-gear, otherwise forget it. It won't happen. Pseudo-run downs don't count.

:)

Not as explosive as the other two though...should really be modelling his game on Pendlebury, they seem very similar to me.
I wouldn't label Mundy and Embley as explosive. Judd, Walker, Deledio, I.Smith, Rohan and a few other tall mid/flankers have a better set of burners. Bootsma ran 20 metres in 2.98 seconds, so he's got a deceptive turn of speed. Similar to Gibbs who rarely gets caught in traffic. I think we'll introduce Josh to senior footy at half back before he potentially moves up the ground. You could see Boots playing that Gibbs, Goddard or Deledio role loose across half back to intercept and rebound. Won't be as good of course, but I like the pick.

We all know what Gibba CAN do, 2012 needs to see him being the reason we win games, not merely a contributor (albeit an important one).

I'm happy Ratten has openly come out with those remarks regarding Gibbs.
Most here would have had some reservations at times as to how Gibbs goes about his game, but the challenge has now been placed upon him

I used to wonder why Gibbs was so quiet and placid at training, but that is no more.
Something has changed, whether it be through the course of this year or in recent weeks
.

Maybe the training camp in Qatar had alot to do with it? With mainly just the young group there it let Gibbs really step up and be the leader and he has brought this back and continued on his leadership with the whole group?

What ever the reason is its bloody great to hear from your training reports harks. Ratts must be very impressed for him to come out and say that aswell. If Gibbs steps up a level this year it will lift the team heaps towards that top 4 spot and #17:thumbsu:

He was showing signs in the second half of last season............

Have no doubt he is the next big thing, great xmas present, thanks Ratts.

Merry Xmas to all you dudes & dudettes too :)

Well this is good news. A couple months ago, I called for Gibbs to have a more prominent role in the midfield so now let's see what he can do.

It is the move that needs to happen really. With 3 elite midfielders, we will be incredibly hard to stop in that department especially when you consider we have one of the better ruck divisions in the league as well.

It's hard enough to keep one star down through tagging but with 3 I can see teams having a very hard time against us so bring on 2012!

IF Gibbs, Robbo, Murphy, Garlett, Betts, Jamo, Henderson, Walker,Yarran, Sugar, Armfield, Watson, Mitchell, Levi, Bower, Russell, etc etc etc etc follow the natural curve of age versus improvement then yes I will be exploding on a weekly basis!

I'm more excited about the prospect of Lucas making one wing his own and letting Simmo own the other wing. Last time this happened, against the Saints in round 24, Simmo notched up 40 touches :thumbsu:
