Great to see Army hold his spot on the ground. Banno obviously not ready. Surely Bryce is no chance to miss???

Interesting to see Aussie named, but he might be unlucky when it comes down to 22. Can't see that we need him down back if Setanta and Waitey both play down there, as Tredrea and Westhoff are the only talls I can think of that we need to cover.

Wouldn't mind seeing the Kreuze playing on a wing or forward flank if the powers-that-be decide he needs a rest from the ruck. Hope Armfield starts on the ground - I think we'll benefit from his pace against a side like Port.

Edwards, Grigg, Pfeiffer, Gibbs for the interchange if i was going to take a guess.

Austin, Wiggins, Kreuzer as emergencies?

Looks like Ebert won't be playing which would have really stretched us.

In the absence of Banno I think Russell will probably get the job on Cornes, his broken finger will no doubt help Rusty out...

Waite on Tredrea
Carlos on Westhoff
T-Bird on Motlop
Browne on Gray
Armfield on Rodan

should get the job done :thumbsu:

I'll back out midfield over theirs and our forward line should be able to kick a winning score, at $6.00 I'm putting the house on Carlton :thumbsu::D

Hope for your sake its not your house!

Lovely inclusions. Great to see Pfeiff really pushing for selection, Edwards back around the mark, and Aussie too :thumbsu:.

Also very encouraging to see Browney and Army both named to start on the field.

I think that Kreuz will be rested for this game, looks like he's getting a bit tired which is to be expected.

A shame to see Banno not there but if he's not ready then there is no point rushing him.

My guesses.....

Out: Bower, Kreuzer

I'd like to see, assuming we give Kreuzer a rest this week:
In: Waite, Austin, Edwards
Out: Paul Bower (shoulder), Kreuzer (rest), Wiggins (omit for the future developement)

I just think that we are a KPP short, and Aussie is the one guy on our list that might make it as a KPP. Would like to see his efforts in the two's rewarded.
Edwards just needs to get games into him. Looked O.K. vs Freo and is starting to fill a hole.
Pfeiffer unlucky to be dropped after the Freo game, but our midfield is tight to get into ATM. Needs to play for the Ants, tear it up and wait for an injury or poor form.

Tend to agree.

Hampson had a blinder in the pre-season at AAMI.
Fisher played well here last year also.
Pfeiffer would be stiff, maybe in for Grigg.

I wouldn't drop Grigg. The kid is quality and is just finding his feet. Looks better by the week. Must stay in the team and keep learning. If pfeiffer was to come in it may be for Wiggo instead of Edwards.

Pretty sure Kruezer will be rested. Was surprised Pfeiffer and Edwards got dropped last week, as they both had OK games V Freo, and we badly missed the extra forwards scoring options last week. Bower out is a massive loss, but in a way it's a positive for players like Austin to take the opportunity. I have no idea why Gibbs and Grigg are on the interchange bench, as they were far from disgraced last week. I really think the coaches and selectors have a lot to learn about their players still. It's going to take quite a while before we get our lineup settled. :)

Yeah, but it is a long season, and to expect our young guys to play 20-22 games takes its toll, wouldn't mind him going back to freshen him for the rest of the year.
Prefer it if we played the younger ones in 4-6 week blocks and keep rotating them,
which we seem to be doing.

Why the hell is Jordan Russell named on field when Gibbs and Grigg get named on an extended bench???

How many games will Ratts waste on playing Russell instead of an Ellard or Anderson.......

This is really giving me the shits

At $6 Carlton are way overpriced.
Last 3 games have been a destroyation at TD in 07, a close run thing at AAMI late in 07 and a win in the NAB at AAMI earlier this year.

Not saying we'll win, but a punt at the line, +33.5 for $2 is smart money.

If Judd gets on top of K.Cornes (what's the history like here), and Stevens puts in a big one against his old mob, no reason Carlton can't sneak a win here.

The key battle to winning is the midfield battle............................probably most overused and bleeding obvious statement ever.

Murph needs to return to form.
Perhaps pfeiffer will get a game - he killed it there in the NAB cup match.
Will be very interesting how the team pans out.

Kane Cornes more often than not has gotten the better of him in the past.

Chad Cornes breathes a massive sigh of relief at not seeing the mighty dragon slayer named this week.

Hopefully Banno is fit to return next week.
