The uniqueness of this situation is that we had sourced further information as to what other forwards were in the market or had been available to talk to and it soon become apparent that 2 of these lads at some stage made it clear they wished to be the only isolated forward deep in the 50. With this information put into contrast we soon made the decision that it didn't fit the structure we desired, hence we didn’t proceed further in talks or negotiations.

However, I will watch with great interest as to how this transpires further with Romsey and these 3 forwards.

Would have been nice if John had informed Romsey of his thoughts instead of going elsewhere and talking about it

Id been stuffed around by him several times in the past so when he approached me I made him front romseys executive committee and pleed his case before we would decide to sign him to a legal binding document. And he claimed that he played the best footy of his career under me and he lives in romsey and this is exactly what he wants. So we signed him on a contract and here we are 3 months later having him want to get out of his contract and go to the sunbury kangas.i also hear that due to close town rivalry that sunbury are trying to ensure that lancefield ignore our contract and clear john to them. May I add that I signed john at bacchus marsh last year and he disappearead with a very large sign on fee yet to be returned. Now can anyone tell me that my contract with john is not valid?????

Mate isn't this the same bloke who signed & took $$ up front from you at Sunbury & then went up the Murray with Housy & took sign on $$ up there, then came back to Sunbury after Sunbury had to reimburse that team, then last year took sign on $$ at Baccus Marsh and ended up playing at Lancefield, without the Marsh receiving a reimbursement for their good will paying this bloke up front? Now you signed the same bloke this year for next? In the old days he would have difficulty playing with two broken legs!! Who does this bloke think he is? But then again you blokes keep signing him! Good luck to him if football clubs are prepared to put up with this sought of unlawful behaviour!

Hi all, To those that are interested Cam Dawson was admitted to hospital today after a work place accident,Nearly severed a finger I'm told, will have surgery tonight or in the morning.

What about informing Lancefield of his intentions rather than Romsey, considering he is still currently on the books as a Lancefield player. And Mongrel, although there is a healthy Romsey v Lancefield rivalry, I don't think the Tigers are that petty that they would assist him going to the Kangas rather than the Redbacks. As long as he is debt free with Lancefield I don't think they have any say or influence on where he wants to go to.

dean with all the dealing you have had with this player is he worth it or has he shown his true colours again???
 
In relation to Baker as I said before it would be a shame (not) if no one including Lancefield picked him up and he missed out
Maybe he would then learn something about shopping around and making promises

Baker will be playing for the Kangaroos in 2014 if Lancefield clear him. John has made some mistakes in the past which he has admitted too and I can sympathize with him for his name being rubbished on a public forum like it has been (which seems to happen a fair bit on the RDFL page) In Bakes defense I can understand his reasons for not wanting to play where he first committed too over 3 months ago, since that time the club he committed to have acquired another Full Forward to play out of the goal square along with the existing Full Forward who was already there (kudos to Romsey) if you know Bakes he is an explosive player who leads from the square and is better suite to One on One contests. Once bakes got wind that he may be the 3rd option to play his preferred position he made contact with me about a possible return to a side he missed out on playing in a premiership with.
Not that it's anyone's business but I can assure you that he will be getting paid well under what he was offered at several other clubs to play with us, No sign-on fee (Bull$hit to whoever said we reimbursed another club last time) he feels he has made the right decision and wants to pay back the club with the only way he knows how and thats kicking goals. I will defend any of my players who are slagged on here and I suggest if you don't want a boring forum or an insight to coaches/players thoughts on things (attacking Skips post with negative comments ect) then pull ya heads in and stop hiding behind 2 or 3 different alias names.

Really didn't want to join in the circus created here but I felt the need to clear things up as we have done with some private phone calls. Thanks Meach.

Firstly, I have to work out how to reply properly. Hopefully I have acheived that with this post.

I follow Rupertswood. Ive notice not many if any posters follow the club. Thought id show some support for the "Sharks" haha

Good work - so can you tell us anything about how their off season is going? I think most see them making a move next year. If thay have signed Chambers that is a massive get.

Pre season has started well by all reports. Terrrific to have Chambers sign. A great get for the club that will certainly strengthen the back half. A couple of blokes back from the Sunbury Kangas and Lions which is always positive.

Benny Jordan has slotted in nicely and attaracted large numbers to training in the first couple of weeks. So things are looking good.

I have a couple of good friends that coach in the rdfl so I do take an interest in them. I like Riddell but I don't mind if a couple of other teams do well.

But if I have to tip toe anywhere - it's into Gisborne.
