I'm assuming you're talking to me BOG. Firstly, no idea about the costs but I'm sure they would be phenomenal. Secondly, I'm not sure if the league and clubs have big enough sponsors to cover it. Thirdly, the reception on Channel 31 is not good in Romsey, Lancefield, Kilmore etc. Can't comment on any other areas.
I'm sure all clubs would love to have a TV show on the RDFL, but its probably not feasible. We don't even have a weekly record yet!!!
very interested to have an update on your running total of successful predictions. some great games this week id be interetsed in your thoughts on the match of the round..are you predicting belville to play on sims that would be very interesting
The weekly record idea is probably a good starting point. This is really successful in the league I am more familiar with in my area, and it really only needs to have the following detail:
- President's/Secretary's spiel (handful of sentences regarding the upcoming games)
- Ladders/Previous round results
- Each club has a page with a few sentences usually regarding last weeks matches (footy and netball), best players, the upcoming round and any social notes etc. Rest of page has current player list with numbers.
- Netball roundup
- Last page to have fixture with previous round results filled in.
- As many ads as you can fit in between that.
The publication runs at about 10-12 pages max every week, has generally repetitive information apart from writeups that could be mailed through, and is only given out on the gate after you have paid your money.
Just an observation as an outsider to the handful of games I've been to is that I hear about the gun players on this website but keep having to ask who that is getting a ton of the ball out in the middle all the time. If I had something like this it would help me understand the league a lot more and is a good marketing/PR tool for the league. Price would be negligible if you got enough sponsors from each club on board, which shouldn't be a problem I wouldn't have thought compared to the costs of a TV production, but in a worst case scenario I'm sure that if you were to sell them at $1 each on the gate that people handing over their $10-$20 note wouldn't object to adding this to the cost of entry.
Despite from adding 5 minutes to the time of the President, club officials and netballers each week to write a quick few words, there aren't any downsides that I can see.
Just a bit of an observation for the learned masses here on BF.![]()

bit of topic but i know kilmore have fallen a bit short of early seaosn expectations. does anyone think though that in a couple of years (2-3) if the blues can retain the list they have at the moment thye will b be a real force. there top tear older players speak for themselves but with the like of ramsdale, moedt , saunders all only playing their 1-2nd year of senior footy and with players like hede collis duffy still with developing to go. and cornish and robbo still yung. the list has the potential to be very damaging in the coming years true ?
C31 is a little grainey in Romsey but pretty good. Definately watchable. I think there is one man and one man only for the hosting job...........
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to introduce the host of our show, Maaaaaaaatt "Pickles" Nicholls (insert canned applause here...). On his left in the co-host's seat its.... It's Myyyyy Shoowwww!!! (more canned applause). On his right it's the very distinguished and astute Mike "The King of the Jungle" Lyon (cue the canned applause). With special comments from the panel, it's...... Mongrel..... Omnipotent and let's not forget the bloke that rounds off the panel..... Halffull. Let's give it up (more canned applause)."
Perhaps Harry might have his own little segement about half way through the show, the live version of "Harry's Happenings"? I'd need to wear a balaclava though to keep my identity a secret. Couldn't have it getting around who the real Harry Wilson is. SSHHHHHHHH!!
Being our Resident "Wilson",
You could be our answer to Carroline Wilson (nice bloke that 1)
Same Same But Different !
Matt, any truth to the rumour that Mick Allen pulled a faint heartstring over the previous few weeks to lengthen his odds for the league goalkicking?
Give me a one week term deposit on Allen kicking another bag against Diggers this week!![]()
Bad word in footy that, only a few recruits away along with improved numbers on the training track thats where most problems lie at any club IMO is training numbers. - but yeah with the right commitment from the players and some smart recruiting ya just never knowTez would be foolish to end his tenure this year would be a top gig providing the commitment improved.
Surely Webby, McIntyre are years off returning to district footy, be the best you can lads - Robbo shouldn't even be playing RDFL, and as for you Van test the water buddy you might surprise yourself.![]()
Better watch out Van, Doona is on the prowl and has cash to burn. Loyalty is a big thing though and you'll be surprised how far it goes nowadays especially at Kilmore just ask Mr W.
I heard JR could be on the move back to the Blues den as well. Any truth Doona?? Also, if Kilmore hold onto what they've got and can recruit a couple of key position players (strong bodies), they'll finish in the 8 next season. ie Wittmar, JR. May even be tempted to fly in for cameo appearances.![]()
There is no doubt Kilmore could be a finals side and premiership contender in future years, but they have to keep the list together. Premiership windows are very small and the Blues would need to recruit a couple of talls and become more of a physical side. They have the pace, skill and ability - just need to have a stronger presence around the stoppages and in the air.
I'm sure Johnny Rowe will return one day to Kilmore, not sure if it will be next year though. He'd be up there in Broadford's best and fairest for sure.

Are you that worried about it that you have gone to the trouble of thinking that far ahead? Diggers haven't even made the finals yet. If we have anything it is depth. Coped with injuries all year and played over 40 blokes in our seniors which I would say is more than anyone else. Time will tell but its to early to be looking that far ahead. Have to make the finals first and we play an extremely good footy side this week.Diggers will play their Elimination Final on the Sunday.
I'll say it again this year!!!! No Jose, Hoare & Walshe, NO DIGGERS.
Matt very interesting reading about the two divisions well put together with a lot of thought. Has any one else got some more ideas like this ?. The salary cap wont work for the simple reason that alot of paid players get paid cash and dont want to declare it or are rewarded in other ways ie-electrical goods, house works, concreteing etc.. I would still like to here from some of the propsed first and second division clubs and see what they have got to say.
I believe there will not be a relegation - promotion system, the 2 divisions will stay as they are .Do you reckon, a side like Rupertswood would consider this concept Matt? Make it a 20 team comp!!!
It would mean that would make money, rather than having to give it all to the VAFA!
How would a grading system be worked out? And would the winner of B grade go up and last come down .......
