Can some one on the thread give a description of the folowing players who have signed with sunbury. Robertson, Climas, James, Petran & Blade Just wondering what positions etc they play, the type of player they are and the views on how they will go in the bfl.
Robbo, Climas, Petran, Blade all great players, would star in any comparitive leagues. James......well massive guns, skinny legs, would be nothing without midfield delivery, saw him play in semi against Diggers in the centre at rain soaked Gilbert Gordon oval ( terrible ground when wet) nonetheless, he think he gods gift to footy looking 4ward to him struggling to kick goals at Sunbury:eek:

Are you saying he would not get good midfield delivery at Sunbury?

can anyone confirm on the players training at new Bendigo side Strathfieldsaye last night?? one had a RDFL jumper and 3 others wearing eather Romsey or Rockbank jumpers (all red with black in the middle)

One would be Danny Harrison, one would probably Nic Dyer. Not sure on the other. Dyer will be a good reserves player if he plays often (is one of Victoria's leading young harness drivers), while Harrison hasn't come on as well as I thought when he was tearing it up at Under 18 level. Is quite skinny and at this stage I could only see him playing BFL reserves. However if he developed, he could make the step up. Would only be guessing as to who the third player is.

Anybody got any more info on the Kyneton boys at Woodend? Have they signed yet or just looking around? Any other pickups or notable/potential losses?

More importantly how are the cats looking, Nothing but the Facts you were going to give us a bit of a report on them after you went down to the MCG to watch them train. Have you had a look and how are the boys looking, expecially any new recruits.

Woodend has NOT signed any of Kyneton boys yet, although Martin-Alcaid looks certain, Else likely & Chambers possibly after xmas. They have been getting good numbers on a monday night - about 35 & a lot of their senior players are showing up. Drills are old-fashioned but effective & Cook obviously not pushing them pre xmas as there was only a small emphasis on running.
I finally had a chance to have a squiz at macedon boys over last week. They have been getting about 30ish to most sessions & are probably training harder & more often than any other clubs at this stage, 3nights a week. Christinsen took all the running - very solid, & then Johnston, Flemming & Lee took other drills. They looked much younger than Hawks but there skills were sharp & they looked a lot quicker. Besides Flemming & Johnston, other players of note who have been training are Ben James - Gis & Wood premiership player, Moloney, Mcquarter & Edmonds from Kyneton, Manning from Woodend, Wylee from heathcote & a couple of boys from Rupo who i couldnt get names. No sign of any Goodyears.
Its gonna be a cracker round 1 between these 2 teams and a birdie tells me both clubs may be close to agreeing on 2 sunday rivalry games this year which will be great little cash bonanza for both. Lets hope so,

Who were you expecting? Mick is in QLD, Joel playing for Sunbury, Gerry is a hot shot lawyer in Melb. The only one you may see is Gemma who is married to Ben James.

Thanks KA for providing such a detailed report on the new sunbury recruits which I posted on the BFL website. Greatly appreciated.

nick is coaching reserves and was at training but not participating,he was setting up drills..wasnt him running around and those other boys were all romsey boys. word is they appointed him because of his work with the younger players and being a new and young side wanted him on board.does this sound about right???? would like to know who other players were.!

No, more like he will encounter better defence in the BFL
On big open grounds he will kick plenty of goals might struggle with one or two of the grounds that are smaller in size,He has good standing start so a good close check on him would keep his tally down. With no bomber, allen, meacham in his way you might see another ton

Didn't he coach the Romsey U/18s and get sacked and brown took over in 2007

Incorrect Kings! It is nothing but fact that Mick is home as i saw him in Macedon last week. Thought Lee might have him on board in some capacity at macedon as they are best mates. Didnt know joel had gone to sunbury, both woodend & macedon will be disapointed with that one.

School must finish early in QLD. No wonder they are so far behind and the less intelligent Vics head that way. Will be interesting to see where he goes then - Woodend is where is heart is, Macedon his best mate and Sunbury a good mate and his brother??

They would be M.Takacs, J.Smerdon and J.Styles all coming up from Rupo U/19's. All bigger bodies who are definately more than capable of playing senior footy at Macedon. Takacs and Smerdon both tall left foot forwards and Styles more of a centre line player.

Add Daniel Sandle to the list of ex RDFL players heading to Sunbury.
What of Brenton Sutherland from Kangas heard he may be heading that way as well ?

Traffic lights erected at Tony Clarke reserve at Macedon.

The Macedon ranges shire have announced that due to the increase of traffic going in and out of the oval traffic lights had to be erected for safety.
Staff from the shire were quized as to why by locals replied " The Bigfooty web site had so many posters going to Tony Clarke, for safety reasons the shire had no choice but to install the lights."

Sorry, didn't realise writing for a living wasn't considered a job these days.

Not that I'm much good at it mind you, but you can see for yourself.

Try clicking here, here, here, here, here or even here.

Anyway, back to footy, it seems everyone has an eye on the Cats. Hasn't been much talk from Kilmore, Wallan or Broadford and Romsey and Lancefield have remained quiet. We know a bit about Riddell, but as per usual the Kangaroos are keeping their cards close to their chest. We all know the RDFL want them to win a flag so it'll be interesting to see how they go in 2009. The West clubs, DR, MC and Rockbank are always quiet pre-season. Anyone shed some light?

Did hear they were offering dollars to a number of players from the NFL, competing with Kilmore for a number of players. also heard that the likes of Cornish and the Whiteway brothers could be departing.

Lefty is training at Lions.. Jose is staying at Diggers... Ruane to return... Have heard that Lefty will make his call well after the Christmas break....

Doona,

How are you guys going up the road there?? How is the feeling around the club about joining the RDFL in 09??
