The rivalry goes way back to 1921 when Kilmore first played Broadford in the the Waranga North East League. Both clubs played in this league until 1931. Kilmore headed to the RDFL for two seasons and rejoined the Waranga league in 1933. Both clubs competed here until 1937 and in 1938 they both moved into the Hume Highway Football League where Kilmore played until 1944.

Broadford left in 1945 while Kilmore went back to the RDFL in 1947. In 1977 Broadford joined the RDFL and played against the Blues until 1984 in Division Two when Kilmore moved to the Panton Hill Football League.

Good work, was probably trying to portray the fact that to the current people involved there's been no real contact through football careers to date so any form of rivalry will take time to generate - unless of course you've been lucky enough to participate in Kilmore vs B'ford cricket games over the years ;)

heard today that arron james will be playing at killmore this year...:eek:

Has been getting thrown around since well before Xmas, although I was of the thought Stanhope was trying to get him a travel buddy and he did tell me he was staying at Stanhope

He wouldn't and shouldn't be welcome back in the RDFL.

wouldnt think the league would be happy to hear this if it were true , seems everywere james goes and plays bad publicity follows.

Since been told that yes the Blues have definately expressed an interest in Aaron :thumbsu: IMO that would more than certainly see them well entrenched in the top half of that betting list you's had going around earlier in the week . . . . . 50/1 I think it was

far from finalised from what I'm told...he would need to be on some pretty tight conditions not only with the club but also the league...
great player when he is focussed on footy and would be a great pick up for the blues if it came :thumbsu: the sunbury boys would be able to elaborate more given they played with him. how good was he with the young kids on training nights???

deal is not finalised yet bomber.however the big fella will be at kilmore this year.if the money is right he will be there.he met some of the blues players 4 beers last nite and is right at home there considering he lives there.he will have 2 apologise to the league and promise to be a good boy and it will be back to business 4 him.as 4 jameseys influence on the kids,i beleive he was great 4 the younger players.i know the likes of welsh, ellery and the ploog boys listened and learned plenty from him.hopefully he comes back 2 sunbury but i have no doubt he will be playing alongside whittmar at kilmore.

And I'm tipping if he does re join the league, the S****** brothers can't wait to bait him, wait him bite, report and then see him rubbed out....again. It's all about big noting for those two guys. For the benefit of the player's sanity, let's hope they've considered pulling the plug

They should be suspended for the performance's they put on the park of a weekend. Both would be the worst umpires of all time....

cant see mick kicking to many next season as he will now get a lot more closer attention given that james has moved on to sunbury a 30-40 goal return for the year would be the likely outcome im thinking

Maybe a bit harsh, looking at the RDFL stats from last few years, he has kicked 84, 70, and 55 in 3 seasons. James wasnt there in 06 from memory when he kicked 70? Lazy forward but does kick goals!!

At least eight senior players have confirmed they will part ways with Stanhope for this Kyabram District Football League season.
The mass exodus may herald the end of a dominant era for the reigning premier, which has featured in seven of the past nine grand finals, but coach Mark Patten is playing down the notion the Lions are down-and-out for this season.

``I'm not going to say we will win another premiership this year, but I still think we have a chance to win it,'' Pattne said.

``We lost 13 players in my first year as coach in 2002 and we spent that year rebuilding and developing some of our younger players and the decision to take that direction has paid dividends over the past six years.

``When you have been up the top for a long time you need to make the decision to either go out and recruit and try make yourself as strong as you have been or put actions in place that allow you to rebuild and develop some of your junior talent.

``Clubs can get selfish and greedy and try win it every year, but I think it eventually hurts the club.''

Patten said while the club still retained many of its big names, including Aaron James, it was losing a number of its premiership stars.

Todd Harrison, Ben Coote, Chris Saunders, Rob Bennett, Matt Trist, Troy Auld, Louis Alvarez-Harris and Jarrod Mason are all among the departures.

While Harrison, Coote and Saunders will travel this year, Auld has hung up the boots, Trist is heading to Tongala and Mason to Shepparton East.

``We have a few handy kids coming through, so we will be trying to give our junior talent a go this year,'' Patten said.

``We haven't looked too hard, but we are talking to a few and we have picked up Joel Harrison (Todd's brother) which will be good.''

Have heard that Rockbank has signed Christian Innella, brother of David.. Haven't seen him play for a couple of years, but last I saw of him a talented midfielder that was capable of matching the best that our competition had to offer.
