But the Lakers were told on the Thursday night that the Sunbury ground could not be used. They then got in contact with their council and had their pitch covered and goal posts put in on the Friday. They then could not get a response to see if the game was still on at their ground so they ended up having to play an intra club match.

That is the first i have heard about that. I believe the person they were in contact with was working in an out of phone range area. A bit of a shame really.

Can someone at Sunbury please confirm or deny a rumour I heard last night. I'm sure it's not fact, but...you never know. I've heard that Jamie Cuffe has talked an old coach of his in Brad Fox out of retirement to suit up for a few games this year with the roos. If people think Brett Cook will go alright in this league, Foxy could still be a force even at his age

Hopefully, for Taylors Lakes, Riddell will be able to do a better job of hosting this Saturday. They played a good game against each other last year with only 1 point between the 2 sides. If Wiggens plays Riddells backs will have their hands full.

Yes, i have spoken with some of the people in the know from the Bloods lately, and they are not happy with the treatment they receive from the BFL, so i can believe your statement although that was never mentioned.

They won a flag 4 years ago. They have the finances to be strong again. They would have the potential to have payments 3 times the size of most RDFL clubs and would dominate like Gisborne did before leaving.

Melton South would be a stronger chance than the bloods.

Surely the league in it's current form has reach capacity? I don't believe anymore more teams should be added. This makes the gap between the top teams and the bottom teams far to large. Surely Melton won't want to rejoin the league in it's current format. Imagine the score line in a Rockbank v Melton game. Even the top teams like Woodend, Riddell and Diggers would struggle to match it with likes of Melton. The leagues strenght lies in the single divsion format. Where anyone can win on any given day.

Yeh, your spot on there Barry but the league could easily go to a 2 division with no relegation system. Would be good to see the Bloods, Panthers, Devils & Gis back where they belong.

Heathcote won both games, seniors by 2 or 3 goals and seconds by a goal.

Melton & Melton South should merge . Melton needs 1 strong side in Ballarat and i strong side in the Riddell league. Would be a win win!!!

maybe not, from what i heard there is a cricket Grand Final at Riddell, and Taylors Lakes ground is unavailable. Looks like they might get screwed again by the worst game in the world

Gee Taylors Lakes is not having a good run with RDFL sides. Firstly Sunbury pull out and now Riddell. Riddell's ground is being used for cricket however TL offered their ground on the Sunday but were knocked back. Not sure they will be ringing 2 many RDFL sides for games in the future.

The Umpires Association had the first alternate training session last night at Kilmore. Unfortunately, only 1 person turned up.

If anyone can help with any numbers, then it would be much appreciated. At this stage, it looks unlikely that umpires will be provided in all disciplines in all games this year unless we can get some more recruits.

Next alternate training is at Kilmore next Thursday night at 6.30pm at the Kilmore Fire Station. PM me if you need any more information.

Praccy matches this weekend?

We went up to Thornton-Eildon today for two games of footy (no 3rds) and two of netball. Both clubs were well below full strength with the 12 noon game a fair bit one-sided, Broadford winning easily. The 2pm match was pretty even allowing both sides to get what they wanted out of the contest, more importantly both sides were injury free. Yarra Valley Mountain comp starts next for Thornton and we travel up the Hume to play our friends from the Avenel FNC.

Does anyone have a link to the clearances I cant seem to find it???

Rockbank played Gordon on the weekend and walked away with all 4 wins (2's, seniors and A & B Netball). Seniors were missing at least 3 of their best with Both Innella boys out and Walker only playing half. Promising signs from some new faces both on the footy field and the netball court too.
