Gee this league lead by Ollie 'where's all the money gone?' Matthews, is so slow and backward. They moved the match away from Woodend last week - Good Decision.

Now they move this match away at the very last minunte when they knew full well the condition of the ground. Why wouldn't they come out on Monday or Tuesday and announce this and make it easier for everyone. Maybe a small note in the local papers in that area to advise people.

Ollie got his photo in the paper this week, thats all that matters.

It is not the President's job to move games. It is an operations decision.

And I think you will find that it needs to be instigated by the home club deciding that the ground is not suitable for play - perhaps you should be directing your complaint to Woodend Hesket FC.

Agreed.. This needs to go through the club in question, it is their home game so they have control of it... I would suggest that Woodend wanted every chance to get the ground up for the game...

Yes they did and, well, in the end it didnt come up. As I understand the game would have been played at Wallan but apart from getting the gate takings the club would have missed out on the bar and canteen revenue and thus had no choice but to go to Green St. Unfortunately the racecourse oval wasnt much better.

Especially after already losing a home game.. It would make it very tough for the Hawks...
I know that when we had an issue with the ground at Boardman, Riddell allowed the Kangaroos to take a mobile bar and bbq to the ground for a switch game as well as control of the gate, obviously even with a switch to Green St, there will be the same restraints with transporting everything, was there any discussion with Wallan about allowing use of their facilities?

Sorry IMS I cant confirm that the club talked to Wallan, though it would have been remiss of them not to.

This could be on the junior board but i think this could have more relevance to the senior body.

Who could be the winner out of last weeks under 16s debacle?
Melton Centrals
For years now centrals have struggled to get an under 18 side in the Rdfl. here is their biggest opportunity. I'm sure there will be a number of disheartened people from south and bloods, One would only assume a large number of players would be ready to step up to 18s next year.
Centrals should be trying to contact as many players as possible starting now, get their feelings on the current situation and try to persuade them to make a move for the start of their senior careers. 2011 at Centrals, talk of new facilities in the coming years. This would be more than just getting an 18s side on the park, but a successful future for the club.

To clarify the issues surrounding the change of venue for the Woodend V Wallan. Both clubs have had discussions regarding finding a suitable venue since early in the week. Woodends preference was to play at Woodend as is their right. Gilbert Gordon and Buffalo arena were both unplayable and no club could sign off the ground reports on them. Wallans ground was wet and the committee of management were reluctant to play any matches on it this week to preserve the ground for the last two home games.

The Greene street oval was offered up by Council as an option on Thursday. Wallans officials went over to woodend and met with woodend president on Thursday in Woodend and after inspecting all three woodend grounds the decision was made that the Greene street oval was in pretty good condition and suitable for the game.

I think Woodend are to be applauded for making this common sense pro-active decision. I hope they arent too disadvantaged financially by the shift in venue, & I will be extremely interested to see how it all pans out for them.
It must be 40 odd years since a game of senior has been played there.

NB - Make sure you have someone stationed behind the bottom goals to jump the barbed wire fence & cross the road to retrieve the pill though or it could be a very long game !

Very poor form from the watchfull eye n sprechen for takin the piss out of a respected n popular figure of the Rdfl in ollie.unlike a lot of us local hacks he has put far more into local footy than hes got in return n i along with many admire him for this.Sadly it does seem as though some of his trusted workers have abused this trust but he will not leave a sinkin ship deserted n will do everything to fix things up im sure.As for the comment bout makin the paper u have no idea.whats the problem u never done anything to deserve recognition from your peers to the football community or u just got nothin better than hang shit?At the end of the day 2 sides get a game of footy n everyone (should)b happy.Cheers

Good move by woodend with playing at J.D Clifford reserve in macedon, but i think a few concerns may arise. firstly the ground size 143m x 104m ,possibly a bit small for senior footy as it is classed as too small for u14/u16 games. secondly don't believe the showers work in the visitors room unless they have been fixed in the past week or so. finally pray for a small crowd cause there is sweet f.a. parking . on the plus side the ground should be in reasonable nick as its only a training venue at the moment.

moorcroft took mark of the year today....huuge

If any body got it on video the footy show car is theirs, James sent off for swearing at 2 umpires yellow card ?. Cameron Dawson absolutely carved Kilmore up, his best game for the club. Burlack on James 10 out of 10. Dean Smith whiting enoughh said

Would just like to mention a concern I have in the Under 18 comp.It seems to me that if your player/players are related to the coaching staff lol they are not part of the player rotations that all the others are.Every week we see the same people (rested), or just taken off for a rest, bar you know who. Then they wonder why the players are'nt happy, how about being consistent.Football is supposed to a TEAM game and no player/s are bigger than the team, even if your the coach's son/s.Maybe if there was a fair system in place you would'nt have the bickering on the side lines. We all go to see the kids have a game of footy and have fun doing it,and hopefully go on to Seniors. All I'm asking is not to play favorites just be fair.

Just wondering how the Woodend and Wallan sides found the venue /surface /facilities etc ,on the weekend

everything was good except for the ground.seeing as i nearly rolled my ankle on the ground then did roll it badly, due to the ground being ridiculously soft in some areas and just moved way to easy under foot

ground looked fairly good at the start but was pretty stuffed after ressies finished. The changeroom side of ground was definately the worst part of the ground and it is really too small for senior footy. But saying that, it was a ground to play on and thats all that mattered. Suban rolling his ankle didnt look good or Whitey nearly getting his head taken off didnt look good.
