rumour has it kilmore is getting back a few old stars robbie witmar, linton kemp, and a few other fellas from the premiership side a few years back. Robbo to dominate once again but this time around win the league B&F by a mile! Big pre-season for the kilmore boys will see a much needed improvement on last seasons performances.

Kemp and Whittmar are staying at thier respective clubs from what I have heard?

C'mon young Van give us names. Some of the key players in the last flag yes were blokes like Wittmer, Kemp, but also Andy & Scott Stewart, Darren Kemp, Dan O'Dwyer, Kev Kavanagh, Brett Butler from memory.

Maybe the Blues need to see a big pre-season from Rysa, and get back some more good blokes like Twitty and BJ, and weed out some of the young fella's with poor attitudes that wouldn't commit 100% to training etc last season.

How old is Andy Stewart now??? 50???
Robbie Whittmar is rated as one of the top players in the EDFL... Cant see him returning just yet...

how good would this comp be if every club recruited there best 25 players they have had play at there club in the past 10 years. comon boys stop talkin crap about who is comin, most of your fish have bigger lakes to swim in or to sink to the bottom cos they are old has beens. we will all see exactly who has picked up who on APRIL the 8th ROUND 1

Lol.. I agree, but this info is why this thread was started, just to hear what news is floating around.

Wouldnt mind bringing back a couple of old favorites like Fowler from Wallan, Ingram from Craggy burn.. Means they will have to come back into the league.. While we are at it, we could get Gisborne back so Werner and Fox can come back to the RDFL.. Lol...

Seriously though, Kilmore may get back 1 or 2 of the old school, but are they going to hold on to Robbo?????? And what about Rowe????
Dont think we will see either Linton or Robbie Whittmar back.. Good for Kilmore and the league if it happens.. But wont be holding my breath.

Went back to Kilmore last season before a major injury cut him down if I recall? Is this right? And if so how is Brett doing? Will he be back or is his career at an end...?

I know of one bloke moving to lancefeild i wouldn't call him from the edfl
he coached rockbank cleaned them and sunbury out, dragged blokes with him to seddon yarraville coached for 2 years there got sacked at the start of last year then went some where in the edfl i believe,and that was lowey. lancefeild had better be careful if they let him into there club although it would be great to see them get cleaned out for once and slide to the bottom

Lol, was a good move too, leave an RDFL club, take the best players from 2 of the struggling clubs by offering plenty of money and then find out why they were top players in the RDFL in struggling sides in the first place... The only players he got to move worth the money in the RDFL were Goggins, Walker and Loughlin, although Loughlin ended up with a knee injury and missed alot of footy in the time he was there... The only other one who was close was Dave Innella, and the injuries he had were always going to restrict him in a league like the WRFL.. Good to see he was relatively injury free this year for Central Altona.

I think footyhead may be a bit over optimistic about the gun EDFL footballer. There are always rumours about gun players getting picked up at this stage of the year. For instance Duff-tyler has been linked to Woodend (and he does turn up to watch our games sometimes so he must have some sort of link) but i can't see him coming even though it would be great if he did. It's unlikely that people who are on big money are going to take significant pay cuts and move to what is a lets be honest 'weaker league' than the EDFL, DVFL or the BFL.

At some stage many players realise money is not everything and go and play for the team/town they live in. This may be the case with potential Lancefield player. He wont be coaching, just playing and only for incentives like everyone else at Tigerland. We are one of few clubs that still dont pay players on a wekly basis. D-Tyler lives in Woodend ans is married into Lee family, thats his connection

mate i'm sick of clubs saying that you dont pay players, your all full of sh t if there is any player at any club getting money for pulling on the boots every week he is getting paid wether u or a sponsor pay him the clubs always organise the sponsors. have the balls to admit when some gets paid.
Does the name smithwick ring a bell both of them about $200 a game when they were there and that is fact.

Geez Woodsman & BigBoy dont you think your getting a bit carried away. Some of these kids are good but its a big step from u/18 to seniors. From what ive seen only Bowen & Downing are genuine stars to be. Others have potential but will find it a lot harder as regular seniors.
Hudson for example would get chewed up against smarter, stronger forwards.

First time on the forum guys-been enjoying the gossip so far and the website. Forget about the young blokes at Woodend- If rumours are correct they will only compliment what big names the club may have on the way. Word has it they have secured Daniel Sipthorpe (B&F-Gisborne and 3rd in Michelson Medal- Dad and Brother have a lot to do with club), Eamon Hancock (Gisborne Premiership Player), Matty Knox (Gisborne Senior player this year and future star), Joel Goodyear (played one senior game), Paul Podbury (Woodend B&F two years ago) and possibly Tim Detman (Strathmore premiership player and Daniel Sandles (V.F.L Reserves) because they're all mates who want to play with each other for a year. Mick Goodyear returns and has been training the house down. This team only needed four or five to be a serious threat-Maybe they have them with this lot.

In their premiership days they were awesome-They had quality players and their heads screwed on properly-now they're a rabble- Melton on the other hand have potentially a premiership team but no leadership or discipline -That's where they have fallen down. Do people agree or disagree. The other point i wanted to bring up is that i'm sick of the R.D.F.L league been used as recruiting pools for the Bendigo, Ballarat and Essendon leagues, but when you talk to guys who play in the above mentioned leagues they never rate us. Teams like Kyneton should stop and ponder over this question, Why do we as a league get it right with fostering young talent and them as a club get it horribly wrong-Any comments.

unfortunately in this league clubs dont spend alot of money on players and dont have alot of money,clubs in these bigger leagues just flash the dollars loyalty is a strong thing but some people would rather the dollar. in this league you could spend 20 grand on players to add to any side in the comp and win a flag. in edfl 20 grand you would struggle to make the finals in div 2 in div 1 they would have to be ready for the spoon.

thats spot on blues12, in our league we cant afford to spend alot of cash which inturn develops the kids alot quicker because they get much more game time,,,woody if all those names do come to Woodend it would be one hell of a season for the Hawkas, they are all quality players who would fit right into the senior side. The only problem i have with this is what will happen to the boys that were playing last year but get put back to the two's this year, they will feel as if they are getting hard done by and may leave for a neighbouring club. Then once all the recruits end up leaving woodend may once again be stuck in a hole. really hope the club is extremely careful with how they handle this situation and dont shunt their current crop!

Works both ways though.Many RDFL clubs have players who came up through BFL clubs and the like.For example most of Diggers Rests 21-22 year old players came through Sunbury Lions juniors and 18s together.A few Sunbury Kangaroos players also came from the Sunbury Lions.Centrals have quite a few players from Melton South and Melton.Riddell has plundered the Sunbury Lions playing stocks for a number of years and Romsey had a couple a few years back to.I am sure there are many other examples but players chnaging between leagues happens all the time and no league is immune from it.

Unfortunately Woodsman in order to win flags you need to add depth. Many people are under the wrong impression that it is your top five players that hold the key to winning a premiership- every team has its five guns. Reailty has it ,that it is your middle and bottom 15 that make the difference. If these guys want to be part of something special they'll need to work extremely hard to achieve what is everyones goal in footy (or what it should be). I'm not being ruthless-just honest. Would Woodend rather be mediocre and accomodate these guys, or a top four side at the risk of a few these guys missing out- By the way who are we talking about. If Woodend is not competitive in the next couple of years, some of these young gun players will leave to better leagues.

My main beef Dog Town was not that trading players between leagues has occurred for as long as the leagues have been around, but rather players in the superior leagues inability to recognize our league as a genuine talent pool for their leagues through arrogant and egotistical comments.
