I'd like to throw this one open to everyone in our thread- Who is the toughest player you've seen in the R.D.F.L-This could mean most courageous or dirtiest or maybe you'd like to differentiate between the two. Very interested in result and are looking forward to peoples views. Always a hot topic of conversation when you're on the ********- what about when you’re sober boys.

on the subject of courageous a young bloke at the kangaroos by the name of simon donovan is built like a match stick and about 5'5 he runs like lightning and if there is someone in his way he will tackle it like he is 120kg built like a brick,he would be lucky to weigh 60kg thats courage week in week out

Not sure if he plays in this league, but if so, no doubt he is the toughest. Olly Mesaoudi goes in for the ball like a man possessed.

Good call Bomber! He plays for Gisborne these days but has a bad back injury,no doubt through all the hard work he's done on the footy field. He is the assistant coach of Gisborne this year ( i think). He sunk Riddells ship(the year Matt Power was coach) in 2000 taking on what seemed the whole side at times. He only knows one way and that's straight!!!!

Yes he is a good footballer, and me having him on the bench doesn't mean that i think he would struggle to make our side. It's just the last year he played he probably started playing more as a flanker than on the ball as he is probably past his best (while still a very good footballer) so i think that maybe he could be used as a backup midfielder for those young blokes, and to put out spotfires around the ground rather than have a set position.

Also i forgot to mention tex morton and teddy whitton in my team who are both handy footballers if their heads are on the job.

Bigboy, teddy head yes tex no-he took some big leaps and bounds last year-Did you watch any of the games.

Romsey-Stracky is fantastic at backing into packs and taking marks.Never seen anyone his size do that so often.

Lancefield-Have a team full of them.To me they are one of the harder midfield groups going around.

Centrals-Geddes never shirks an issue and can dish out some punishment as well.

Diggers-Little Damina Janner is a maniac and Dan Reilly and Jeff Heritage always put there head over the ball.

Kangas-Niki is a bit of a brute when he gets running in a straight line.

helmers at macedon is known to be a hard man on the feild and somtimes dirty although this year he was not at his fittest, saw a kangaroo player knock the wind out of his sails at macedon, it wasn't dum dum niki
i wouldn't like to cross helmers in a dark alley meant to be a fighting machine in his day

shayne searle has been appointed coach at centrals as they have chosen not to reappoint geddes
they have still not re appointed the reserves coach after winning the flag, although he has re applied for the position. no news yet as to whether they will have 18s

cmon dogtown!! stop getting on here an telling porkies!
geddes is as soft as butter, at diggers was tough at doing the talking but when the hard stuff was required was seen running the other way.

geddes tough or dirty starting to get old now he has to do it to keep up with the youngsters
meltons toughest would have to be old ronny dewhirst always has been a hard nut

Tell me blues 12 what's Searle going to be like as a coach-seems like a meathead on the footy field-Can he Talk, does he have the respect of the boys ,is he tactically competent. Melton Centrals need a coach that will instil discipline into their side-can he turn pig sh*t into strawberries and cream in one year.

There reserves coach must be a real winner!!! Got the flag-no reappointment, how often does that happen unless there's more to the story-like to elaborate Blues 12.

i believe the boys respect him abit more than geddes and he can talk dont know what he will be like as a coach but can play saw him a number of games and he dominated although he didn't finish in the top 3 b&f. nobody can turn a club in one year unless every player leaves and they start again.it starts with the management of the club not the coach. a clubs culture and character is a very hard thing to change. look at sunbury kangaroos they have had a terrible reputation over the last 18 years only over the last few years with their committee working hard has it shown signs of change.
As for the reserves i'm not sure on the story they may just be waiting to see if they can get a better offer some one who could help the culture.

Gavin Christaenson has been appointed as Macedon FC's Senior Coach for 2006. Gav was Reserves & Assistant Coach to Mick McGuane at Gisborne. Good move for the Cats i believe...Now they just need to strengthen their cattle.

rumour has it kilmore is getting back a few old stars robbie witmar, linton kemp, and a few other fellas from the premiership side a few years back. Robbo to dominate once again but this time around win the league B&F by a mile! Big pre-season for the kilmore boys will see a much needed improvement on last seasons performances.

Rumoured that Lawrence ANGWIN may have a pre-season run with the Blues also ?????

Lol.. I agree, but this info is why this thread was started, just to hear what news is floating around.

Wouldnt mind bringing back a couple of old favorites like Fowler from Wallan, Ingram from Craggy burn.. Means they will have to come back into the league.. While we are at it, we could get Gisborne back so Werner and Fox can come back to the RDFL.. Lol...

Seriously though, Kilmore may get back 1 or 2 of the old school, but are they going to hold on to Robbo?????? And what about Rowe????
Dont think we will see either Linton or Robbie Whittmar back.. Good for Kilmore and the league if it happens.. But wont be holding my breath.

Roge, I think Wayne Harmes is going to do a pre-season with the Blues also or something like that, he may be thinking of one year back and then taking over the coaching job again ... for god's sake how much money do you think the club has ?? Robbie Fowler is doing a pre-season with Wallan and making a comeback, good luck to him, great bloke. Ingram, his old sparring partner from the 2000 2nd semi would want $600 a game, just to pay some old friends back. Bring back Paul Albon, Ibrahim Kaakour, Joey Gambin, Foxy, Brendan Hehir, Jason Albon and the 93 Crazyburn flag side and Kilmore still would barely win a game. As for Chris(t) Dunne, he would only be doing a quick pre-season because he wouldnt be able to get near the Harley hammond Reserve, he's goin' to Shepp anyway for as much money as he can get out of another club !!

Get your hand off it Woody!
Woodsy are no chance of getting all those players, are they?
Mick Goodyear might be past it anyway dont you think? Although he would probably still be a handy Back pocket with his experience. Might struggle against a quick type though.
Sipthorpe would be on a fortune at Gissy wouldnt he? How could Hawks afford him?
Whos coaching Woodsy by the way?

First time on the forum guys-been enjoying the gossip so far and the website. Forget about the young blokes at Woodend- If rumours are correct they will only compliment what big names the club may have on the way. Word has it they have secured Daniel Sipthorpe (B&F-Gisborne and 3rd in Michelson Medal- Dad and Brother have a lot to do with club), Eamon Hancock (Gisborne Premiership Player), Matty Knox (Gisborne Senior player this year and future star), Joel Goodyear (played one senior game), Paul Podbury (Woodend B&F two years ago) and possibly Tim Detman (Strathmore premiership player and Daniel Sandles (V.F.L Reserves) because they're all mates who want to play with each other for a year. Mick Goodyear returns and has been training the house down. This team only needed four or five to be a serious threat-Maybe they have them with this lot.

What do you mean porkies? You can disagree with my opinions but why call them porkies?Seems to run in straight lines and he did at Melton South earlier in his career as well. Can be a dirty player but he takes his turn when he has to.Not to sure where that came from.

They are a chance according to the people that matter. You could be right about Mick Goodyear, however heard he was travelling well. Sippy could be on a fortune but apparently family and mates come first.

Footyhead18 you seem like a bloke in the know. Do you know who's coaching Woodend yet?

woodened and lancefeild are the only 2 clubs not to have appointed coaches yet, apparently having a hard time as nobody has applied to ads in papers. looks like they will have to do the work themselves in chasing somebody
