if you take the time to read some of my previous threads you will see i named about ten of them, all from different teams. Mate look at the Riddel U/18's, they won last years A grade U/16`s flag and now they backed it up with this years u/18`s flag. That team alone has a huge amount of talent in it. Clemmo is just one name to through up.

Personally I didn't think too much of him. I mean, an excellent RDFL player, but don't think his up to the grade that Brick's talking about. Besides, he'd already be about 18 wouldn't he?

No clemmo just turned 17, played most of the year as a 16 year old.

Good effort. But anyone could have looked good in that side this year. They were just a class ahead of the rest of us. Does he play for any rep teams or anything at all?

Tough call Red... Climmo is a standout in this competition.. And would be a top player in others.. His willingness to win the football was unmatched in the Under 18 comp this year.
 
What if any coaches have been appointed so far?
Can any clubs confirm quality players coming to their club or close to coming to their club at this stage?
 
I believe Mick & Joel goodyear are playing for hawks again. Also heard a gun from Amateurs will make his debut for them after a year or two out of the game. If they can keep all their kids they will improve again.

Diggers have reappointed Glen Hopkins, Kilmore have reappointed Ahern, apart from that I think all the other jobs are open.. Believe the Kangaroos will reappoint Dixon.

i've also heard the rumour bout the Goodyear boys, one thing for sure is that if Mick Goodyear gets a coaching position the Hawks will be an extremely fit outfit. At the moment it seems like all the talented kids down at woodend are happy to stay with the club, the real test will be if Kyneton have taken notice and are ready to spend some cash. Plus who is this ammo player you speak about?
 
I would really like to know who this ammo player is that may have an interest playing at woodend, any help would be much appreciated.
 
Wait and see. He tells me he is a certainty to play at this stage but doesnt know whether he still has what it takes to play ones.
Any chance of Hancock or Sandle playing with hawks next year? Believe they are good mates with many of young fellas down there?

I'm new to this thread and am a woodsie supporter, and what they are saying is correct, woodend will have a very good team this year.
I've heard rumours about Goodyears, also hear Fennell will be fit to play again this year and Forrest from our 18's 2 years ago is back playing cricket at the club, maybe get him for footy?
 
Look at the B&F this year
Johnno only 22/3 and will provide great stability in the middle
Wazza Else only 19 will be best defender in comp with a year under his belt. Can play tall and short and is possibly best kick-out in comp besides Luke Carroll.
Jubes Downing 17 and absolute freak, hard but skillful at the same time
That's not to mention blokes like Hegarty who only needs consistency to dominate, Stace who still has another year in 18's and maybe Digger will lift his game this year and give us a focal point like he is capable of doing and Sammy bowen is too good to have 2 ordinary years in a row, will be very good this year i'm tipping

Sammy had alot of focus on him this year from opposition sides.. Whether this was warranted or not who knows? But he is a talented youngster of the comp...
Will Stacey play 18's next year??? He was just about the number 1 ruckman in the Seniors this year.. Tough to see him go backward from there...
 
I only meant that stace is still eligible, not that he will play there, too good for whoever coaches this year to let that happen. Someone too help Stace out would turn him into a much more potent player, let him split his time between ruck and foward cause he has a great set of hands
 
Agree with all said above, hancock will stay at Gis as he will find it hard to leave after winning a flag, In all honesty i cant remember so much talented youth coming through the club at the one time! It's quite exciting. The most promising sign though is that all players look to be commited to the cause!
 
Agree, Hancock won't come or Sandle but with the young talent already plus the chance of getting players like Goodyear and Fennell back we need possibly only one gun foward and another good midfielder both with a bit of experience, maybe a whoever the coach will be this year can attract someone like Denno did with Fowler when we won the flag

Committed to the cause now but it might be a different story if Massina does what Massina does. Money would be hard to knock back for some of the young kids, especially if they are just coming out of school.

Especially with Kyneton with dollars and a goal to build through youth sniffing around... The competition could also be a draw card when comparing with the RDFL

Nor should he... This kid is a talent that Woodend can ill afford to lose. He is the player that they can and probably will build a potential premiership side around.

You seem to know a bit about Woodend, what do you and woodsman think of this as a lineup for next year

B: Stevens, Fisher, Stevens
HB: Manser, Else, Goodyear (J)
C: Fennell, Downing, Hegarty
HF: Forrest, Digger, Bowen (Sam)
F: Taylor (J),O’Meara, Patterson (tacker)
R: Stacey, Johnstone, Germaine
IB: Rocko, Goodyear (M), Arnold, Eastley

That is with a couple of possibles, but leaves out another couple like Runnells, how good would he be.
Did I leave anyone out, thoughts?
 
Just wondering what peoples predictions for next season are "as it stands" then we can throw in another round of predictions just before the start of the season.
