dont think anyone could say that kangaroos havent step up as an opponent or a club off the field and to lose 1 of your best players early in the game is not good but lets not forget diggers had 3 stars out even before the game started so i think the cards were stacked in Kangaroos favour. Anyways thought it was the best finals game ive seen in a while in the RDFL

congrats to diggers on the win played good footy all day. as for having 3 quality players out, they also had 3 quality players come in to replace them.
Official free kick count 47 - 23 shame to see the umps get involed, anyway we lost and now back to the drawing board for next year hopefully our reserves can keep it going and make the granny. they played great football yesterday despite inaccurate kicking in shocking windy conditions.
As for AJ behavior was un acceptable as for copping abit from the crowd your right that was always going to happen but if this includes rockthrowing (that the thrower got not nearly what he should have) or maybe you didn't see that.

like i said earlier i only seen one report which was the last one , but if rocks are being thrown then thats a whole new can of worms that can be open id imagine and im sure if thats his defence then its sounds to be a pretty good one id imagine

Good effort by Kangas to make it as far as they did and I think the RDFL needs them competitive to give the rivalry between the 2 Sunbury based sides (Diggers AND Sunbury) as it gets the crowds in and might even get a few players back. Hopefully they can get back up next year.

it was a fantastic game and it has been a great year for the roos who have been sensational all year. Good luck to the 2's who are still in, i think there a massive chance to make the granny, especially if they can get a few back from the 1's. as for the free kick count some of the roos players can stand up and take credit for that. jobe alone prob gave away 7 by himself. the rock throwing thing is a joke if that really happened then james may have an excuse for his behaviour. matt walker did a great job to keep james to 4 goals is a massive effort and 3 of them came from free kicks. great game played in good spirits, well done to all involved

as for throwing rocks how about the drink bottle james through into the crowd when he left the field which just missed 2 female spectators

the rockthrowing thing did happen but your wrong in one thing it is still no excuse for his behavior, as for the drink bottle throw, he was a very angry man already and a few blokes got stuck right into him without having the balls (or stupidity) to go up to him and say it to his face.

Anyway who cares about one incident it was a great day of football, how good would it have been if the wind was not there, could the roos have got up if McInerney didn't get injured in the first quarter, would the other 3 for diggers have made much more of a difference to the end score.

What a big win for diggers yesterday! There has been banter on and off the field all year and the burra finally brought the kangas year to an end with a tough deserving win.

Was unable to make it out there unfortunantly but hav heard from various sources that diggers definently were the better side on the day. Although i tipped the kangas, i was always worried about the consistant run in the legs of the burra. From what i can gather sunbury had a great start and were looking dangerous but their 1 dimensional style of play (kick to james) was eventually stopped and diggers blew the game open. Well done to the kangas on a great year, but their lack of depth and run was definently a major factor in the loss.

In a nutshell, a scrappy game where constant pressure and run paid off for the burra. Am i back on the bandwagon? hmmm we'll see.

whiteout ive always found u to be pretty close to the mark with your comments and views on the various games.i agree again that the roos have had a fantastic year and yes the twos should put on a good show this weekend too.i beleive dumdum, helmers, welsh, salm and scott all qualified to play.as 4 sundays game i thought it was a ripper.it was fast, physical,
and played with a lot of passion.no excuses needed, diggers desrved to win.they had many great players on the day.sunbury had every chance to win but didnt capitalise.i do think the umpiring was disgracefull, but also realise that pluge and a few others gave away some silly free kicks.is there any truth in the rumour that 2 of the umpires r diggers social members and their parents were at the game in diggers colours?im not suggesting that had any bearing on diggers winning, but perhaps might explain the free kick count.as 4 the a.james saga, well i think the dual between him and walker was fantastic.the rock throwing, crowd brawling and umpire abusing takes a lot of the light off what was a terrific contest between two local clubs that both have had wonderful seasons

Diggers were first to the ball all day and I think hey got alot of free kicks from guys coming in late. James got some dodgy frees early and the kangas got two goals in the third from umpiring errors so i dont think they were that hard done by.Bobby Johnson was a shining light for the Kangas.

As good as Heritage,Kilty and Marchewka were you cannot possibly say that having Jose,Hoare and Walshe would not have helped Diggers. Jose was 4th in the league B&F and the other 2 have been starting onballers for most of the year.

Congratulations to Diggers Rest, they were superb on Sunday, in what was probably the best game that we will see all finals series.

I have seen alot of talk about the "job" that Matty Walker did on James, but lets get serious. He kept him to 4 goals 7. 7 or 8 goals see's the game the other way.

The guys I think should get the pats are Janner, Heritage and Marchewka, and above all Cole Laurie... "Lefty" was superb, his hands and long kicking were a feature of the game.

The Aaron James thing was definately a distraction from the game, but only the end of the game.

A big thanks should go to the Diggers player in the 2's who played on Gaddo, Matty Walker and the egg head in the crowd who was throwing the rocks for reminding us why in this competition it is a waste of the club and the players time for trying to recruit players to this competition...

the players that missed out 4 diggers on sunday dasher r all great players.knowone would disagree with that, and perhaps they might have made a difference?but all im saying is that the players that took their place, all had superb games.you cant have 26 players,so if they played others would have missed out.and the ones that would have missed out were given a chace and they grabbed it and were a major factor in diggers winning the game.also how did bobby johnson not make the team of the year?THE BEST floating backman this league has seen in a number of years.(my opinion guys)

Agree with earlier comments B.Johnson is a class act and a great mark , but i have a difference of opinion with your opinion of Matty Walkers job i thought he was fanastic yeah james kicked 4-7 maybe but when teh ball is kicked to him 80% of the time i think to hold a player of his ability to 4 goals is a great effort. And to those who think the 3 guys wouldnt have made a difference well i wont even go there on that one. Agree Colin Laurie was superb as was Janner for a little guy is as hard as nails

i think it was a good team effort on james.one on one was never an issue,as it shouldnt be with a player of his quality.if u play one man on him we would have kicked 12.the fact is at every contest he was triple teamed.all credit to the diggers backline, they did a great job as a group on james.

I meant them as 2 seperate people, the guy who played on Gaddo in the 2's and Matty Walker in the 1's

hey rdfl supporters how good is this thread going to be now that the sunbury kangaroos are finished talking all their trash ie: all year long we have read their crap on how diggers rest are no good and that sunbury were going to slap them it seems down at kangaroo land they are full of yap but the score board my friends says that they are crap !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now let me reply to this drivel that someone has wasted our lives with...

The reason you see this as a Kangaroos thread is that you see all these Kangaroos ppl with the balls to actually show up and post something rather than just sitting in the background, waiting for a chance to throw in a cheap shot...

So now that you have finally come out of hiding, are you going to stay and continue to post your thoughtful and insightful comments about the competition, because, if you read back, most of these "Kangaroos" people are the only ones actually talking and posting about the whole competition, not the ones just jumping in with cheap shots and no league knowledge whatsoever...

Thankyou..

marchewka had a sensational game and had to step up for them to win. i actually thought chewy did a better job in the actual ruck contests than jose did last time these two sides met. jose overall game is better but my hat goes of to chewy, massive effort to ruck all day. sunbury very much relies on McInerney especially around the clearances, helmers is good but can't be expected to win majority of them for the kangas, so loseing him early obviously hurt the kangas chances, did he go in to the match with a hammy problem?? getting goof back was a massive in for diggers which allowed sims to go forward more which worked well with him scoring 3 goals. lefty sims and ruane hold the key to diggers winning next week. if all 3 of them can score maybe 8 between them then i think you will see diggers progress through to the grandfinal. diggers advantage is there midfield which have great runners in sims, klouster, walshe, deebes, jose, hildo. diggers just seem to match up well against kangas, player for player, where as i think if sunbury were to play riddell they would have been a massive chance to knock them off. just my opinion. the comp only benefited from the kangas improving it has made a massive diffference in the publicity that the comp has recieved this year, i hope they are right up there again next year and we can experience another great game like sundays was

Good summation...

As far as im aware Mark had no injury going into the game, it was a freshy.. It did hurt, but I dont know how much.. Diggers won the game in the 3rd, they were superb, Hildo is one I forgot to mention before, he was awesome, talented young kid that one.. Agree though.. Chewy did a massive job for the Burra, in the ruck and floating back into the backline, he was tremendous

what is the point u are making in regards 2 those players?

That the method used to try to stop these players is not what we want to see in this comp.. Fine on the hard stuff, im all for it, but throwing blatant cheap shot after cheap shot (Even though Gaddo did throw a fair share of cheapies himself), is not the way this comp is heading.. I saw at least 4 blatant punches to the head in the first quarter to James.. Not that it is entirely Matty's fault. If the umpires are impotent to the action, what else is a player to do but to continue to do it...
