Heck there's some Fitzroy fans who think they may get their team back at AFL level some day haha
I've always said there's not enough teams in Victoria....

To be fair though Seattle got screwed back then, I hate how teams in the US can just be moved around like they are.
And if it wasn't for covid they would probably have another team by now as well I reckon.

Elsewhere, Indiana Pacers might have just ended their shot at a title in the deciding game. Their star player Tyrese Halliburton played game 6 with a strained calf, managed to get through it. Tried to repeat the heroics in game 7 but it looks like he might have just torn his Achilles now trying to play through it.

Will take a lot of heart to get up now, and on OKC's home court

I feel like Durant did something similar a few years back at the Warriors, tried to play through a calf and snapped his Achilles?

Correct, when he was still playing for Golden State

I don't really rate him that highly even when he was younger, he's a decent player but he just doesn't have the mentality to be a great player. So mentally soft

Indeed, it's why Jordan and Kobe are my 1/2 for the GOAT debate

They just had that win at all costs I don't care if people think i'm an arseh*le mentality

I'm an incredibly casual follower of the NBA, checking in every couple of years so. I remember the time that a basketball fanatic friend of mine told me that my team (Charlotte Hornets, the team of every casual NBA following 90's kid) had been relocated to New Orleans and I was just bewildered that teams in the US just up sticks and move on to other towns.

Like Baseketball pointed out - the Minneapolis Lakers moved to LA, where there are no lakes. The New Orleans Jazz moved to Salt Lake City, where they don't allow any music.

I am not old enough to have watched him but I think it's the lack of titles that people dismiss Wilt as the GOAT. If he wanted he would hold every record in the NBA. He was did it once where someone said he didnt assist enough so the next season was the league leader in assists. Played almost his entire career before blocks were counted as a stat and it's on record from many sources that he was blocking 10+ shots per game. No 3 point line, had to be hard, hard fouls and in some seasons averaged above 30ppg and 25 rebounds per game.

The best I have seen play I have Jordan at 1 over Bird just over Johnson and followed by other more modern era players Duncan and Kobe.

The best Centre i've seen play is highly arguable. Best year, best career, best two way player, best defensive player, best scorer you could come up with any of Dream, Robinson, Shaq.

The whole NBA history is just ridiculous, particularly back in the early days. The Lakers were originally the Detroit Gems before they moved to Minnesota.

Bill Russell another one who doesn't get a mention in the GOAT debate

Won 11 rings in 13 years as a player and was one of the few players who could match it with Chamberlain

Kareem another one who doesn't get more love

It’s been relatively settled lately. I think the Sonics moving to OKC in 2008 was the last move (other than the Nets crossing the river into Brooklyn, which barely counts).

I think it's an easy argument to be made that Russell is far and away the most successful of all time and one of the top 2/3 defensive players of all time. He played in an absolutely stacked team that was incredibly well coached for the time though.

Kareem doesn't get enough love either however I only really started following the NBA in 1981 and I missed his best years for the argument. He does have 6 MVP's, however I think Jordan was robbed in the MVP argument a minimum of once (which would tie them) and arguably 2-3 times. The year Barkley won MVP over Jordan probably probably the most notable however the year Malone was over Jordan is just as arguable.

Yeah it's hard to gauge Wilt, I think he was an amazing player but hard to judge without seeing him play and who he was playing against other than a few clips.
Jordan clearly number 1, I think it would be closer between him, Bird and Magic though if they hadn't both had to retire early.
Always had a soft spot for Shaq and I think he had the best prime out of those other centres but can definitely make arguments for Hakeem or Robinson being better all round players. Have to throw Kareem in there too really.

And The Stand!

But if you're talking about basketball players acting what about Shaq in Blue Chips and that all time classic Kazaam

Blue Chips was the shit in the NBA Action days of the 90s.

I made my mrs sit through it last year....she was not impressed.
I thought it stood up pretty well though

Nick Nolte punting the ball after arguing with the ref should've got him an Oscar.
