I watched it Saturday night.
The original is a classic, but the sequel suffers from the same problems that most comedy sequels suffer from. Referencing jokes from the first movie isn't funny, and feels a little shoehorned in. Anchorman 2 had the same problems.
Ben Stiller's character as well felt too over the top. He was too overtly sinister as his villain characters tend to be, rather than the nuanced kind of menace he had in the first.
Happy Gilmore 2 looks like the usual slop Netflix puts out that resembles a car ad. A shame because the first one is a classic.

The older I get the more I love Heat. 2 of the most iconic heist scenes that Hollywood is still trying to replicate to this day with no success.
Michael Mann has actually written a Heat 2 novel, it's kinda prequel and sequel mixed together and is surprisingly good. Would be surprised if it doesn't end up a film.
Read up on the sequel after I finished the first last night and seems like a cool idea, I’ll probably give it a read.
Movie is rumoured to have already been cast with Adam Driver as a young DeNiro, Austin Butler as a young Kilmer and Timothee Chalamet as a young Pacino.
No clue what they plan to do with the sequel scenes with Kilmer for obvious reasons - hopefully not some sort of weird CGI version of him.

I remember when they came out with bangers like Stranger Things, House of Cards, The Crown, Narcos, Orange is the New Black, etc. Everyone thought we were entering a new era of quality TV.
Now theres a gazillion streaming services and they're all competing to pump out as much slop as they possibly can. Meanwhile the shows that are the most streamed are the 30 minute episodic ones that came out 10-20 years ago.

Creative content across the major mainstream genres is in the toilet right now. Music, movies and TV are all very very poor.
