Do you still spend much time in Karratha mate?

I was on Optus when I moved back to Tom Price, it worked fine in town but as soon as I ventured out (eg. to the mine site I worked at), it dropped out a lot quicker than Telstra did.

Karijini is the exception, they’ve got coverage there where Telstra doesn’t. Most of the Pilbara is pretty much Telstra or bust outside of towns (I’ve just got back from a trip to Brockman and didn’t even get signal on a Belong who are a Telstra reseller, only mainline Telstra gets signal out there)

Daughter is leaving Karratha at the end of the year so it’s unlikely I’ll be heading back up there anytime soon so regional coverage isn’t going to be an issue for me

Recommend everyone watch the new War of the Worlds movie on Amazon Prime.

Running at 3.2/10 on imdb and 0% on rotten tomato, it is truly one of the movies of all time. Enters into that "its so bad its funny" territory.
How does it compare with The Room?

Have watched that one several times with my mates and we’re always on the lookout for more “so bad it’s good” type movies

I have since been alerted to the fact that this is an actual quote from the trailer

Aliens: "Oh boy I hoped he clicked 'agree to all cookies.'"

That's some top shelf stuff I'm just giving to you guys for free. Conan O'Brien would pay megabucks for that gear.

And if you didn’t already read it in Cookie Monster's voice.

Does anyone here have their mobile coverage on the Optus Network?

Thinking of changing provider but that means going from the Telstra network to Optus and I’m wary of a drop in service reliability
Former Optus Customer and Employee, I worked for them down south for four years between 2019 and 2022 and never had any coverage issues. Unless you’re going way way north to those FIFO sites that have exclusivity contracts with Telstra you won’t notice any drop in coverage. It’s all the same around Perth Metro and into the southern regions of the state.

My parents live on a bush block south of Bunbury and get better coverage with Optus than their neighbours do with Telstra. I can only imagine it’s gotten even better since the infrastructure sharing agreement with Vodafone kicked in.

I’ve just switched over to Amaysim from Telstra myself. $25 P/M for 15GB is much more palatable to the $70 plan I was on.

I’m on the $70 plan with Telstra now but are looking at going through AGL on the Optus network who have a $25 plan (40GB) that’s $12 for the first 6 months

I rely on decent service in the metro area for work which is why I asked about how reliable Optus was - it seems a no brainer given nobody is saying there’s any issues with them

Yeah do it. Save yourself some money!

The big appeal of Belong for me is that unused data rolls over and accumulates

I stated out on the 40GB per month plan ($35 off the top of my head) and have now moved down to the $30 a month 25GB plan because I’ve got a good amount of data built up in the kitty

Uses the Telstra wholesale network so you do miss out on those extra regional locations, but I’ve never noticed any difference between it and mainline Telstra when in towns or in Perth. The only kicker is on the cheaper plans the download speed is capped at 100mb/s
