thank you for succinctly highlighting the 'culture problem' of bigfooty -

by the way, even if your premise is true, that doesn't mean you need to be rude to the opposition supporter who posted a legitimate contribution to the thread

If you will note i wasnt rude to him

Nah, that's bullshit. Another clubs poster comes in here offering some input. Sure we don't like the article and the god knows who the source is (about as credible as most of these no name sources) but geez, some of you are really unwelcoming bastards and deserve a spray.

When did i say anything about the article? I was responding to the accusation we are currently cheating

If we lose Level I really hope to never hear us talk up a new recruits character in the terms of "he comes from a great family" or something along those lines again.

I don't agree with people saying we should recruit from SA as a priority as it cant work out like that, but lets reduce weighting on quality of person how good their family has brought them up as they seem to be more likely to want to return to family!

FWIS I think Lever stays
I think its time to recruit players that come from a bad family haha cos the ones with great family will want to go home..

Correct if its purely about coin, he is 100% staying someone would pay $800K for Jake he would stay for $750K

If he is being paid $300-$400 now we are looking for $350 per annum incraese or extra cap room

With an extra $2 Million cap room, there is no way he is leaving for the fact we cant afford him, we could pay him more if we wanted

PS Gov is the same scenario
I literally couldn't even throw out a ballpark figure for what Gov is worth. I love him and definitely want him to stay because at this stage he's the only guy who can take a bloody contested mark, but the numbers being bandied around could make him the highest paid player in our forward line... I'm just not sure that's fair.

Lever is a quality player and quality players will attract interest from opposition clubs who are willing to pay overs however with that said Lever has never indicated that he wants to hold off contract talks until end of year which is usually a key indicator for a player leaving.

The delay in negotiations because of CBA finalisation is understandable however Lever has now instructed his Manager to commence talks with the club and has said publicly that he would like a deal done sooner rather than later however he also understands there are also other components that need to be worked in the AFC list mgt puzzle so the process needs to accomodate a broader approach

Finally I can't see the club low balling Lever and this talk of our offer being under $400k sounds complete garbage to me. The AFC had Lever in their draft sights from a long way out and Lever has sinced showed the club that barring injury he will fulfill his potential and become an elite player so there is NO WAY the club will be entering negotiations with an embarrassing low ball offer

No doubt in my mind that Lever will one day be a future Captain of the AFC

Wake up you guys. This idiot 'Doggy' is trying to rack up some"internet cred" on the Bulldogs board by telling everyone what a clever troll he is and how Adelaide fans are reacting.

It's school holidays in Victoria, and clowns with an IQ of less than 60 posting on our board to get a rise should be just ignored or reported.

See I found it interesting they were all an Adelaide paper is reporting it and most us replied with um, which one as we only really have one and we all knew it hadn't been reported there. It wasn't so much a rise out of what was being said as more someone who had no real idea of the situation of the media in Adelaide. Seems that correcting about our state of play here is 'bullying'. Poor little doggies.

On the futures market it is fair imo. If he is the difference in a flag, happy to overpay him or lose a player or two. But in saying that we also need a gun midfielder and a Brodie Grundy type ruck as well to be genuine contenders

That's a nice club statement but it's from the club, not Jake.

and Jake or his manager could refute it, if they wished. There have been statements from Pyke about Jake before and there has been no refutation.

It's interesting how for a club who won't comment, we seem to be commenting a bit via Pyke (had said gov and lever want to stay a few times over the year), and our guy Theo in the media.

Reminds me of how Reid declared Gibbs intentions, but hopefully works out better this time.

You really think the club would publicly misrepresent a player's position in the midst of negotiations?
I don't know but we did the same with Gibbs and that didn't go so well. Let's just wait and see if he signs in the next 2-3 weeks. I think if it gets to the end of the season he's gone.

If it gets to the end of next season, I'll begin to doubt

We didn't misrepresent Gibbs' position, we just made it public.
There is no way Pyke would say that if it wasn't the tone of conversation that Lever was having with the club. Otherwise he'd ruin the coach-player relationship
Doesn't mean Lever will stay, but it is a positive, and so is the fact that he's talking to the club. Danger never even bothered entering negotiations.
If we pony up something that Lever finds acceptable he'll stay, no doubt. Doesn't necessarily have to be the highest $$$

Gibbs? That was because what *he* wanted was only part of the issue - Carlton were the stumbling block. We don't have to please a third party to keep Jake, we just have to please him.

Bloody media had it in for us...

There was never any similar such talk about Danger from the either him or the club as there has been with Jake.

For me the issue is the length of the contract, so when can get an idea of when to start the next "Re-sign Jake Lever" thread
