JEFFREY DUNNE
(14 May 1956 – 14.09.20).
Past players and officials are saddened to hear of the passing of former great player Jeffrey Dunne.
Recruited from North Ballarat, Jeff played as a hard running back pocket starting in number 48 and then making the number 8 his own always wear his long sleeves jumper.
Junior Football career:
North Ballarat U/14, 1968-70. Games 20, Goals 11.
Ballarat YCW-CYC Juniors 1971-73.
North Ballarat 1974-77, Games 60, Goals 83.
VFL Career: St Kilda Seniors 1977-1983, Games 101, Goals 20
St.Kilda Best & Fairest 1979 & 1980,
Victorian Representative Team 1980-81.
St Kilda Reserves 1975, 1977-78, 1982-1983, Games 37, Goals 21.
Jeff moved to Richmond in 1984 playing only 1 senior game
Jeff was a very determined player who played close to his opponents giving them no latitude. Jeff was famous for his jet black beard which he wore for most of his career.
Tasmanian career:
East Launceston 1985-86, Games 20, Goals 12 Captain/Coach 1985,
Tasmanian Representative Team 1985-86 Games 5
South Launceston 1986, Games 17, Goals 4 :
North Launceston 1989, Games 4 , Goals 5.
Jeff was a businessman based in Tasmania with his wife and 4 children (3 sons, 1 daughter).
Our thoughts are with Jeff’s family and all past player team mates, & officials.

Wonder what the story is, only get one senior game, kicked a goal in a win against a top team ..then ( ).
This probably sums it up quite well: https://www.tigerlandarchive.org/tiki-index.php?page=Bob+Gleeson

Richmond didn't play finals in 1951, so when the next season started up he wasn't in the side, and didn't get picked again. Melbourne was Richmond's opponent that day, and they in fact finished a long last in 1951, winning just the one game, so perhaps his debut performance wasn't all that great!

I'm sure it will be told in this upcoming book...

That looks terrific!

I thought you may find this interesting, as the records (AustralianFootball.com & Wikipedia) don't indicate that the two are brothers: We looked into this a while back and found that the two McDougall's, who played one game only (6 years apart) for Collingwood, were brothers. Darcy went on to have a very successful career in SA, and (rather incredibly) returned to Collingwood in 1919 (aged 33), but didn't manage a senior game.

Thanks for that Daicos, I've just updated AF with all the new details.

While Colin Tully's DOD has been entered as 24 September on his Wikipedia page, matching what the Collingwood Cricket Club Facebook page has, most sources have 25 September:
