Anyone have a idea how to record something on TV to watch on video later. The Video used to be able to record say Channel 9 at 7.30 on 9 on VCR, then 10 at 8.30 on 10 on VCR, when not at home to watch it. The set top box has screwed this up and with analog going out, how do i tape something as it's all on AV. I like to record say something on Go then on Channel 7 but i have to be home to flick the set top box channel to get it on AV while programmed.

For digital transmission people use a PVR. It's like a VCR but the storage is internal, it uses a computer hard drive.

Some TV's and set-top boxes also have USB out as an option (recording to a USB stick), newer ones though.

Thanks for that, but I have A DVD Recorder, I use for RAGE using that VCR AV Channel, but there must be a way to record on my VCR not having it on AV on video as i watch and then erase shows.

Set up is like Video to TV, Set box to Antenna, DVD recorder to Antenna has a splitter for 2 for antenna. Audio, video cables of VCR to Set top box, then has a box with DVD Recorder cables audio input going to Stereo and VCR going to stereo.

OK, the set-top box is basically a digital tuner with a digital-to-analogue converter. It outputs analogue.

If the analogue output of the set-top box is fed into the VCR then you should be able to record it.

A PVR isn't the same as a recordable DVD, there are no plastic DVD discs involved. Apart from playing old tapes there isn't really a need for a VCR now.

Recordable DVD is with a hard drive also and i don't use the player to play movies, etc only use it to burn home videos or make a music comp. There another DVD player also that i use to watch all my DVD TV Series sets or Music & Movies i bought. I keep the Old VCR, just to record every now and then on TV, then throw the tape away after erasing it after a 2 months and got some Video not yet issued on DVD. I have put them on DVD R but still like the originals.

I'm still hesitant to get rid of videos as DVD are unpredictable manfactured DVD or DVD R on certain players.
