Recruiting Targets Summary

nobody thinks lonie was a good deal. but on a side note if you ever stood next to the guy you would wonder how that guy couldnt be an elite athlete. i stood next to him and salopek at a store once and lonie was a massive unit. i mean he looked like he couldve picked me up and thrown me around ala hulk/loki in the avengers and im 6 foot 84kgs so not a small guy. funnily enough he fitted reh's script of solid guys with size around the hips/thighs. but when he looked in the mirror he must have seem something like sammy hoon.

my knowledge of trent is that he is a super super kick , and was rated very highly but did drop off the map a bit. i think teams obviously targeting him as the user off the back flank.

if he had half the heart of The Hoon he'd have been elite. Lonie's issues were all above the shoulders IMO.

It was initiated by a usually reliable journo (I think it Emma Q at the Age?), who among the more important and sensational facts of the Ryder trade probably has less interest in whether Port, The Saints or Cam suggested the idea of his being involved, and very likely doesn't know who if anyone initiated it TBH. In fact she might simply have been trying to put two and two together based on the so far unsubstantiated rumour that the Saints (ie Richo) were into Cam.

also their was a report that O'Shea bought a house in Melbourne about 3 -4 months ago .. and their was also a report that Richo likes Cam (so both these added to the talk of Cam going to Victoria)

him going or staying doesn't matter would be up to him ... but i think we could cover him with either P. Stewart or Clurey (both are about the same height as O'Shea).

Still want us to get Sam Baulderstone. From yesterday's Sunday Mail. Looks good for 106kg man.

Redlegs pair fire for AFL scouts
NORWOOD’S Ben Edwards and Sam Baulderstone caught the recruiters’ eye as some of South Australia’s AFL draft prospects went through rigorous testing at Woodville yesterday.

Edwards not only impressed by breaking the 3secmark in the 20m sprint but was also the draft combine’s best in the standing vertical leap, the running vertical leap and the repeat sprint.

Baulderstone, 23, impressed for different reasons. The dual Norwood premiership ruckman was first noticed by talent scouts when he was a hefty 149kg and playing for Mt Compass in country ranks.

The 199cm Baulderstone has since shed 40kgs and is now only a couple of kilograms away from what he believes is his ideal playing weight around the 106kg mark.

He presented well at the testing, which will add to the impression he made during the SANFL finals series.

Baulderstone conceded he felt old in the company of 17 and 18- year- olds but had been encouraged by the amount of mature- age recruits in the AFL in recent seasons.

“It’s turned 180 degrees, which means there’s still some hope for us,’’ he said.

Another 23- year- old, former Western Bulldogs- listed Matt Panos, was invited to test but had to withdraw because of dengue fever picked up on a holiday to Bali.....

neither has his pace though. O'Shea is more a spoiler than man on man player. he's run and carry much more like Pittard than those two, even to the extent of having started his career with a tendency to have 'brain farts' at times and then he cleaned up that aspect of his game about a year before Pittard did.

I want Mackenzie I'm going to be disappointed if we don't get him now he's been brought up.

A player of his standard will need to bide his time until he's out of contract, they won't trade a best 15 gun who's still contracted but it's a good sign to even hear rumours that he's keen on a move here to play under Ken again.

Could you imagine him & Harts in the same team? 2 kicks between them & you'd go coast to coast with ease.

One from left field

if we were going to take ryder via the clause

what c would people think of direct swap pick 17 for j trengove?

Dunno if it would trump tigers pick 12 for jt and 23 though
