Recruiting Tom Scully - a thought

Hi Dees Fans,

Just a thought - and feel free to shoot me down.

Asuming Scully is the best player available - if you were his manager, or even the Dees recruiting staff, do you think there is any merit in recruiting him with pick 2 rather than Pick 1 - just to take a little pressure off him?

I know it shouldn't make a difference - but the pressure on Reiwoldt his whole career as opposed to Kozzi is quite great. I also know it puts the pressure on another player - but if I was Scully's manager - i'd be asking the Dees to take him at 2.

No I'd be inclined to take him at 1, he's been handling all the attention this year extremely well and I think he'd handle everything next year very well.

Besides doesn't the number 1 pick earn a little extra than the rest of the draft? He's earned the extra cash and it'd be wrong to rob him of it just to take off a little pressure.

The lad will be fine with being pick 1.

This would have to be the first year a Carlton supporter would be able to say this. With so many high picks in recent years I would imagine most Blues supporters would have known everyone in the top 10 off by heart.

Um a manager can't negotiate where a club takes a player in the draft, if Melbourne didn't want to take him at pick 1 then it's tough shit although we will.
