I really don't mind the slow start. For one thing it helps set expectations for the fact that things in this game take a long time to do. This isn't GTA

The biggest issue for me with the start was the fact there were very few places to stop and save, you really needed a good 3-4 hours to get through Chapter one

I find first person great for when you're inside searching areas as then it really ensures you aren't getting mucked around trying to inspect or loot stuff. As you just look exactly at what you want
Had not tried

Will...theres talk that VR missions might be a add on later on...RDR in VR WOULD BE SICK

You can manually save...

I just found if there was a few things in the one area it would annoy me trying to focus on one of the things, yes you can press R1 but first person was soo much easier.

You can manually save...
not during missions
and they would start the mission automatically a few times in chapter one.

I felt very similar to this for the first 3 or 4 hours. Apart from the visuals, the game has a really poor start. Once it opens up and you start to explore and discover side missions, it gets a lot better. I’m really liking it now.
Thanks for the confirmation of my initial impressions too, and for encouraging me to continue with the game. Im sure Beerfish will be pleased with that.

We often hear the cliche in life...life is not about destination its about journey

RDR is very much about journey ....exploring playing cards...dominos...chopping wood. If someone said a game would include chopping would ..you'd go errr no thanks...but everything has an a connection to the game

Imagine in say GTA having to charge your phone or put fuel in the car....

The extra depth is what makes this game awesome

How many O’Driscolls can there be? Reckon I’ve killed about 40 of them so far. Pretty funny. They must hate the player’s gang.

Also had an idea after the dude died from being mauled by the wolf. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could dig a shallow grave for dead victims of misadventure, especially if the grave persisted in the world? I’d make a cemetery.

That one would have to be post RDR1 though, the story won’t be as good :(.

It would be cool if the sequels kept being actual prequels. The west would get more and more wild.

Don't know if this has been posted yet ...

Yeah we would probably only get one more game where we can relate to characters though, wouldn’t have John or the likes and Arthur would be young. After that it’s all new characters.

Does anyone else antagonise Dutch whenever they go into camp, or is it just me? I'm nice to everyone else in camp, but something about Dutch just makes me want to talk shit to him.

I have found Bounty Hunters yield some good objects when looting.

I found a gang hideout yesterday while playing, Killed about 40 O'Driscalls and had only looted about 5 of their bodies when bounty hunters came out of nowhere with their dogs and killed me. I ran back to find that all the dead bodies were gone. I was so shattered. I found the bounty hunters still there and killed them but they didn't have much :(

Fit in an hour before work this morning, finally made it to St Denis. Holy shit :D

Is St Denis act 4? Currently in Rhodes but wouldn't but a long calming ride after work where I can take frustrations out on unsuspecting rich folk!

I randomly ended up there tracking down one of the 4 gunslingers. I’m still in act 2.
