Just had my first chance to look at the full set of voting options, the most deeply uninspiring candidate list I've seen in my 20 years of membership
Are you able to post the list of nominations?

I've already voted, so it won't let me back in to copy down their statements, but the candidates (5 for 3 positions) are current board member Dean Marsh, disgraced former politician Jamie Briggs, stereotype of an Adelaide Club member Michael Llewellyn-Smith, professional social org board member Stephanie Miller, and former professional athlete Susie Smith.

Not exactly a who's who

Dean Marsh is good

I don't know Briggs apart from what I've read

The rest I don't know at all

The board of the SACA is, in my opinion, the very reason why the Redbacks (and South Australian cricket in general) is in the position it is. None of those candidates (nor the existing board) will push to implement the full Hussey report findings - rather they will just be happy to turn up to the pre-Test dinner and get a nice table up the front.

here are the Statements btw...not one of them says I am wanting to be elected to implement the Hussey report and actually make SA competitive for the first time since what, 1996?

BRIGGS, Jamie

Cricket is why I call South Australia home. My cricketing journey took me from country cricket in Mildura to Glenelg as a dead-keen 18 year old. I worked as a coach at the SACA and pursued my dream, like so many young cricketers, to play for Australia. While that dream didn't eventuate, my love for the game endured and Adelaide Oval became a special place to me.

As soon as I could , I put my name on the SACA waitlist. Since 1995, I have missed only two Test matches at our beautiful ground. In recent years, I have enjoyed coaching my son's junior teams in the Adelaide Hills. This year he will continue his cricket journey at Kensington.

I could talk about cricket all day but that isn't the only reason I can add value to SACA members. I am the SA Managing Partner of PwC. I have held several government roles, including as a senior adviser to cricketing tragic former Prime Minister Howard. I spend almost a decade in the Federal Parliament as the MP for the federal seat of Mayo. This included time as a minister, with portfolios including infrastructure, regional development and cities.

My understanding of business and government - but most importantly my deep love of cricket - is why I'm eager to contribute. I believe I am well-placed to help take cricket in South Australia forward, drive excellence and ensure a bright future for the game we all love.

Jamie Briggs - SACA Member since 2003

LLEWELLYN-SMITH, Michael

My main skills and competencies are in Governance and Strategic Planning. I have qualifications and experience in Architecture, Town Planning and City Management. I have been the CEO of Adelaide and City Manager of Prospect. I have served as:

. State President and Federal Councillor of three professional bodies

. National President of Local Government Managers

. Vice-President of the International City Management Association

. Director of the SA Motor Sport Board

. Presiding Member of the SA Development Assessment Commission

. Chair of the Major Developments Panel

. President of the University of Adelaide Alumni Association

. Governor of Scotch College

. Presiding Member of the Gawler Council Assessment Panel

. Managing Director of Llewellyns International Pty Ltd - Urban Management Consultants (current)

I was a consultant on the City of Sydney Strategic Plan and had overall responsibility for the five-yearly City of Adelaide Strategic Plans. I was involved with the various developments of Adelaide Oval, including during the period I was a Councillor and Deputy (Acting) Lord Mayor from 2010 until 2014 when the redevelopment was completed.

I boxed for the University of Cambridge and was elected as a Life Member of the prestigious Hawks’ Club (Blues). I played cricket and rugby for my school in London and my college in Cambridge.

I have received several professional International and National Awards and in 2013 an AM for “significant service to local government through the promotion of city and state relations and planning.”

Given my backround, qualifications and expereince I beleive I could make a valuable contribution to the Board.

Dr Michael Llewellyn-Smith - SACA Member since 1994

MARSH, Dean*

I seek your support to continue to serve on the Board of SACA which is an honour and privilege. Whilst the recent 18 months has been difficult for all, a very exciting period is ahead for SACA members. I will ensure new and younger members are welcomed to the SACA and enjoy the many benefits the Association and Oval provide.

My key motivation is to ensure SACA members receive a first-class membership experience at Adelaide Oval. I am currently SACA Vice President, Chair SACA Audit & Finance and 150 Year Celebration and member Honorary Nominations Committee and represent SACA on various AOSMA Boards and Finance Committees.

Whilst the impacts of Covid have been severe, SACA is in a very solid financial position and I intend to ensure this continues while minimising the ongoing impact of the pandemic. This will allow greater investment into SA Men’s and Women’s Senior cricket, Premier and Association, Country and Indigenous programs. Recent visits viewing Country regions provide insight into challenges country associations face in providing successful cricket programs.

Professional qualifications include Chartered Accountant (Retired Fellow), MAICD and Justice of the Peace. As a former Partner of a large Chartered Accounting firm, skills I bring to the Board are leadership, financial modelling, budgeting, corporate governance and communication.

My cricket passion developed playing for Prospect DCC including 15 years A Grade. I was part of SACA Senior squads, Second XI, Under 23 and 19 teams and coached PDCC Under 16 and 14.

Thank you for your support.

Dean Marsh - SACA Member since 1975

Dear Members

SACA has a proud heritage and I feel that the Board best serves its members by actively engaging with and listening to feedback then developing strategies that will serve the interests of all members.

I have been involved in premier cricket for 20 years, as a player and a coach. I am now thoroughly enjoying contributing as a parent, coaching U/10s in the Adelaide Hills.

I have been a member of SACA’s Game Development Committee and previously the Women’s Cricket Committee since 2012 - focusing on growing participation at all levels and across all demographics.

If elected to the Board I will focus on:

  • Strengthening and enhancing member services, such as committing to continually improving and increasing match day experiences.
  • Increasing the number and diversity of people playing and watching cricket in SA.
  • Committing to programs to deliver success in our state teams and an increase in Australian representation for both men and women.
I am an experienced executive with over 25 years in resource management and corporate strategy, including board experience with industry, scientific research, and an Olympic national sporting organisation, Water Polo Australia. I am currently a chief executive working in climate change and energy policy, and public affairs.

I have background in elite sport, representing Australia in water polo and swimming. My approach is simple: set goals and do the work.

With your support I would love the opportunity to contribute at Board level on behalf of all members.

I know James Orchard is one who is pushing hard to initiate change and roll out the Hussey review findings. Not sure whether he's a lone voice though

Pitch will flatten out and the WACAs will end up 4/400 at day's end

From 2-212 to 7 for 271

I mean seriously, how sh*t can you be.

Head fails again, just can't see them picking him for the ashes
I mean his first 2 games were very good, and I think he's 2nd leading runscorer.... But hey.

Was a bad toss to lose.

What a strange comment, there's never a bad time.
Yes it was, sorry I got half way through and it inexplicably closed. (Maybe my browser thought it was stupid too)

Today, he should have been able to as a senior player consolidate the score and hold an end. He rarely does that. It's runs or it's out.

Reminds me of a lesser version of Mark Waugh

Carey is the same TBH, and I liked the 2 kids making scores.
