The reality is that SA is completely void of cricketing talent with no one coming through the ranks. When you have ti rely on rejects from other states and are still abject shit, then there's significant issues with the system.

At least decent soccer talent is being produced.

Hard to disagree except I don't mind the group of fast bowlers we have. I know most are from interstate but Buckingham, Doggett, Thornton, Johnson and McAndrew isn't too bad by today's standards. Then I guess Agar and Conway as depth.

For spin we really need Pope to come on, Manenti should be just about first picked as a pure batsman.

I'm not a Neilsen fan but he is probably okay at 7 but for me it's the top 6 outside McSweeny.

The fact Lehmann who is barely first class standard after ten years as our Captain is a joke. Hunt really should be dropped and I don't really see what they see in Kelly.

There is a real lack of local talent.

I had a quick look through the batting averages for our top order. These are career stats so I accept that form can play a part but they are so poor.

Even if they all redeem themselves in the second innings for Carder to average 23 after 55 innings says it all.

Hunt - averages 32
Carder - averages 23
McSweeny - averages 34
Lehmann - averages 33
Kelly - averages 21 (only 7 innings)
Neilsen - averages 28

Helped by some not outs but after 28 innings, Manenti averages 35. Above all of them.

With the Redbacks or the Strikers I just don't get why he gets so many chances.

Maybe there is no one else and he is the best of the young batting prospects but he never looks like making a big score when we need to.
