I would have b
een able to deal with a pick 6+ for Conca and Richmonds first round pre-injury. However serious hamstring injuries not only are difficult and lengthy injuries to recover from, but also historically shorten careers.

So, the severity of his injury I think is now a key determining factor.

With the injury to conca , I would play hardball and just swap Sinclair for conca

Ive heard on talking footy last night that Richmond have approached AFL for a "special part allowance" for Cochin to be paid outside the cap for a "mentoring role".

This should get rejected though.

Richmond have picked up Chaplin, Houli and Grigg as trades or through free agency. Obviously they out bid other teams to get them. Now that it turns out they've bid too much the AFL is supposed to bend the rules for them? The AFL already rewards shit clubs for being shit too often.

efa :thumbsu:

The fact he's out with a hammy makes me more certain West Coast will go after him, they LOVE picking up injured players

Like who?

If you mean Bennell and Dick, they were taken with the final rookie draft pick.

Regardless if he does or doesn't. Why offer more then we have to?

Agreed, I'd hate us to pay overs for Conca, let alone market value.

Then again I was against recruiting Wellingham and that turned out to be an excellent move.

I wouldn't say Wellingham would be considered an excellent move after the season we had. Hopefully we get some games out of him next season though.:p But it was a value pick and I rate Wellers higher than Conca so our second pick would be fair.

Wellingham fills a need an excels in areas we lack in (clean hands at stoppages, line breaking speed, versatility, overhead ability). We only passed up on Ben Kennedy (assuming we weren't going to take Grundy). At 25 he's still young enough that it doesn't matter that our window isn't right now.

There's no doubt Conca is a very talented player but if it was the choice between he and Sheed I'd be inclined to go for the latter.

I'd go with Sheed as well.

Sheed should fall to 10/11, by the way.

I wouldn't risk it. Sheed is a top 10 pick easily and if he wasn't injured may have rocked the top 5 boat.

For you guys, maybe.

If he wants to go back to WA I'm not sure you would get much better from us. It'll be our second rounder with someone added.
I doubt we'll pay much more for someone we could just draft at that pick.

Conca is happy to stay in Victoria for now. It's still up in the air as to what he'll decide to do. A lot of what transpires will depend on what the Tigers do in Trade Week. Richmond can afford to pay Conca, but the club has left a set amount of salary cap space so that it can chase Billy Longer or Taylor Adams. If it can get one of those for cheap, Conca will stay. If not, it's more likely that he will go.

He loves Richmond. He wouldn't bend the club over and go into the draft.

He's a big family man, but his brother has moved over here to be with him, and his mum is imploring him to stay. Even if he does stay, I know that he does eventually want to go back to WA. If he re-signs with the Tigers, I'd say that, the next time his contract is up, he'll be off to West Coast or Freo.

It's virtually impossible to speculate this early. Draft camp is still a month away. Things change dramatically in the days leading up to the draft let alone this far out. You often get players perceived to be outside the top ten on quality surge into the top three.

Maybe before and after State league finals, but it's extremely rare for sliders and bolters to occur between finals and the draft.

Also seems to depend on whether Martin stays and, if so, how much of a chunk he takes out of the salary cap.
