Long trip. ;)

Even so... With the Crows playing on Sunday he was their first choice emergency, so they couldn't have him playing on Friday night. We didn't want a repeat of the circumstances where Maric played for Port and the Crows on the same weekend.

I have no problems with the players being told, to their faces, where they sit in relation to list management issues. However, this needs to be done in confidence, by the Football Manager and/or Head Coach. It should not be done in public, nor should it be done by asking the players to judge each other.

I agree with this completely.

That being said, maybe its the wakeup call that some players need. They had said this had previously been done to Vince, and over a summer he started to become the player the Crows thought he should be.

Wouldn't be surprised if there was a little interest in Reilly, he's a 26 year old hundred gamer, who was drafted in the first round of a highly renowned "Superdraft", who has shown glimpses but, in a large part due to injury, has failed to deliver on his promise. Wouldn't surprise me if there were a couple of clubs out there willing to take a gamble, on the premise that maybe he needs a fresh start or change of scenery. What we'd get for him? It's been generally accepted that this up coming draft has fairly slim pickings, so it wouldn't surprise me if a couple of 1st-2nd round draft picks changed hands for players such as Reilly, similar to the 07 draft in a way where there was a fair bit of draft pick shuffling. I think Reilly is far from a spent force and that he still has plenty to offer at AFL level.

Probably not now. He's really shown what he can do and I'm not sure another side we'll think he solves any of their problems. I guess a side looking for a little bit more experience in their midfield might be curious, but it's hard to imagine that anything more than a second round pick would be on the table, and even that seems pretty optimistic.

What did McMahon and Farren Ray get traded for?

I'd say a pick around 20-30 would be on the money - Radar is too good a footballer not to be in a starting team.

Young, strong body, good skills, apparently a great attitude - just been screwed by unfortunate injuries. Deserves a go somewhere - hopefully with us.

Bulldogs give Farren Ray + R3 pick (48) to Saints
Saints give R2 draft pick (31) to Bulldogs

Bulldogs give McMahon to Richmond
Richmond give R2 draft pick (19) to Bulldogs

St Kilda certainly got the better of that one. Ray on current form would be worth much better than pick 31 let alone another 3rd rounder thrown in.

Honestly surprised that the McMahon trade wasn't along the lines of:
Bulldogs give McMahon to Richmond
Bulldogs give R2 draft pick to Richmond as compensation.

Ridiculous.

Surely a first rounder would be in order ?
woulda thought a half eaten tomato sandwich woulda been a better offer...

Think you missed the point... We're talking about the compensation the Bulldogs should hand over to Richmond, having inflicted McMahon on them. Note that both the pick & player are going to Richmond.

i think you fail at humour...

i was pointing out that richmond would have been better off getting this as compensation for the 2nd round pick they gave to the bulldogs, as the half eaten sandwich would have been a much better option than jordan mcmahon

Either way, we're both bagging out McMahon...

Back on the topic of Reilly, Craig was on Ch 9 sports talking about Reilly, who comes out of contract at the end of the year.

He made it absolutely clear that Reilly is a required player and does have a future with the club. He acknowledged that Brent had performed well in his last game, only losing his spot because of the want for an extra tall.

He said that Brent knows what he has to work on to be one of those players with "team security" as he called it (picked every week we'd call it).

He pointed out that Reilly definitely has something to offer, which is why he's a 100 game player.

I'm not sure why Craig used this as his discussion point on the sport tonight.

Perhaps he's sick of reading a lot of the put down rubbish re Reilly that gets posted on this web site.

Since the day he went to the Double Blues I've always liked Reilly (and he goes to the same bakery as I do, jealous much?).

I think injuries are the story of Brent's career, he hasn't been allowed to get a good run, build up a bit of momentum and find some form. Just when he looks to be getting a run on he cops another injury. This seems to be partially because he is more susceptable to injury, and partially just plain bad luck.

So he hasn't had a sustained chance to narrow the gap between his best a worst. That said, it would be nice to see his intensity lift. The desperation shown in the vid above was typical of his whole game against the Blues so lets hope he's turned a corner. Seeing him dropped after a good game against Carlton was disappointing, but understandable.

The reality may be that he is one of those players who needs to find a new club, and when they do they start to realise some of that potential. It happens. I sincerely hope this is not the case with Brent, has tons of class when he's up and running and we would be poorer without him.

But what value can you put on that mo?

So your happy with Reilly's development/performances so far Mac? A player who has been in the system for 8 years and is on the fringes of our best 22 is okay? Amazing how personally people take player criticisms on this board.

Craigy posts on Bigfooty?

Is that you Neil? :p

Can I just point out that you are a bloody legend for putting all these reports up on the facetubez?

I'm hanging out to watch them each night when I eventually get home from work nowawdays.

Zoom!! Zoom!!

Right over your head Springy.

If the coach of the club publicly states that he thinks that he's good enough to play AFL for Adelaide (and has played a 100 games already), that'll do me, rather than the opinion of those carrying whips looking for their boy!! :)

That's the system we're using though. The Leading Teams stuff.

Frank, open and honest peer assessment. Quite brutal at times I'm sure and very confronting. Personally I'd be very uncomfortable with it but so many AFL teams have embraced it that there must be something to it.

No elephants sitting in the corner. Nothing discussed in whispers behind locked doors. Everything is out in the open where it can be dealt with.
