Remember when you hovvered over the fence waiting for the second siren so you could bolt to hit the centre circle first?

Then they fenced off the square, being first to the square rope didn't have quite the allure...

Now set foot on the ground and you owe 3k

Remember when you would wonder what would happen to the clock if a quarter went for longer than 35 minutes? Would it stop? Would it keep going even though there were no numbers? Would they just blow the siren once it got to 35 minutes because they had no other way of keeping the time??

When they still sold beer in steel cans. Dad would
drink two as soon as they got there so mum could stand on them to see.

I'm impressed by this but also a bit puzzled.

I appreciate that steel beer cans are going to be much stronger than the flimsy numbers of today, but I'm still surprised that two empty steel cans can support the weight of an adult!

Remember those little things you used to see at the footy that you maybe don't really have any more?

Things that stick in you mind from times past...

Remember the crowd starting to buzz just before first siren when the top level gates of the ponsford would swing open and people would stream across the wooden seats - ohhh its gunna be a big crowd! 90+!

Remember the best seats in the house at the g were level 2 of the ponsford behind the myer signs.. the roof hung right over giving it the best acoustics - it was loud!

Remember the 3 qtr time raffle? whos won the tv?? chuck a coin in the blanket as they walk the boundary

Remember the kid yelling hot pies? cold drinks? -some joker always had to yell cold pies! hot drinks!

Remember sneaking a cash register roll or cut up phone book and chucking it off level three?

Remember sneaking a look over the blokes shoulder in front to try and find out who d vs f was on the scoreboard? f is coming back!!

The announcement asking someone to go to the bay 6 administration office under the old Olympic stand.

The roar getting progressively louder from the u19s, to the reserves then the seniors as the crowd filled

Remember when your team was struggling to keep the lead but seeing the security come down the race and around the boundary gave you hope

Remember being stuck in the waverly car park for 2 hours having a kick cause you had lost your car or wouldn't line up in that long snake

anyone got any other old memories?

Was a lifetime ago but Essendon challenging for finals
