As far as salary cap goes Monfries could be in the way of Goddard. In no other way does Monfries leaving help us to get Goddard though.

yeah it would free up a bit of cap space. TBH it wouldn't surprise me if angus was on something approaching 400k.
But really it is a win/win/win if he leaves. he gets more opportunity/moves home, we get compensation or we land a better player in free agency, which leaves us short a pick. but gets us an upgrade on monfries

It depends what the compensation is... a 2nd rounder wouldn't help that much.

IF we get Goddard, we lose him for nothing. I would rather keep him and free up cap space by delisting players that have shown a lot less ie Reimers.

The only justification for him leaving would be if Hird has had a chat to him saying his playing opportunities will be limited. Outside that, he's been another who's been a financial beneficiary of our poor list over the past 7 - 8 years. If he left purely for money then he can tell his story walking along with Pea Heart Houli and scab McPhee.

Reality is that he's a limited footballer who doesn't excel at anything.

I dont think the club will be willing to match the offer of say Port. Him leaving also opens up plenty of cap space potentially meaning we could fit in 2-3 FA's or be in a stronger position for the up coming years with some salary space available.
