I received my membership pack today and in the fixture card that came with it, it says a practice match against GWS has been organized as a curtain raiser for the Round 2 game against the bombers

Excellent! Thought the packs came a lot later.

Another practice match for the reserves (I think)

Kruger cut his teeth with the Eagles following his switch from representative rugby union, but will line up against his old teammates in a reserve team trial match on March 19 at Busloops Oval, Moore Park.

That is one week before the season opener and I think it's usually a mixture of the ressies and players who the coaches feel need a run and they request special permission from the AFL to play. Who knows, we might see Bradshaw, LRT and Kennelly running around.

Grim are u gonna go 2 these?
Yes I plan to go to all 3 but we'll see as the weeks approach. A 10am Saturday starting time against a Sydney AFL side is the least appealing of the 3 but it is a week before Round 1 so I'll be keen to check it out, ostensibly for Dream Team reasons.

Will I have the pleasure of your company at these games?

yep will be great to get a head start on the ressies for the ressies page

Yeeps, I just remembered my friend is getting married on the 26th. Ceremony's at 12 and reception's at 6 so maybe if I'm lucky I can sneak in the game in between.

The Sydney Swans Reserves vs. The East Coast Eagles

Practice Match
Saturday 19th March 10am
Lakeside Oval aka Bus Stop Loop Oval

It's ostensibly a pre-season match for the reserves players who haven't seen much time in the NAB Cup/Challenge such as McKaigue, Kruger and Gordon but the club will also play players such as Kennelly, LRT and Bradshaw who need a run before Round 1.

And if the NSW Blues are lucky enough to host the Sheffield Shield Final, you can drop into the SCG after to watch the 3rd day's play.

Alex Doolan seems to be making sure you'll be there for the practice match only Grim..... though your welcome to join me in my return to Hobart trip next weekend Grim :thumbsu:

Re: The Sydney Swans Reserves vs. The East Coast Eagles

Really excited to get down to this game

Anyone going?
Yes me! Will do the usual live tweeting. Any particular players you guys want me to focus on, besides the injury ravaged group of Bradshaw, Kennelly and LRT?

Hopefully the Eagles give a good fight like they did in the corresponding game last year when they lost by about 5 goals from memory to a side full of listed of players.

No Shield Final though, but I'm sure CAS will be happy about that.

Soph, if you're updating the Reserves facebook page, can you stop writing in all caps? It's really obnoxious.

I think I'm going to go to the game. Parking is available on Driver Ave, right?

Parking on Driver Ave is $3 an hour. Parking at EQ is 2 hours free and $4 an hour after that.

Looks like it's raining for the rest of the week as well as Saturday. :(

Thank you!! This always annoys me too.

Parking on Lang Road (up the hill) is free, though might have to park quite away up the hill unless you're there early. Lots of free parking on Darley Road if you fancy a 15 minute stroll through Centenniel Park.
