Read about 4 or 5 different sources on the asian demo just now and the vast majority said the demo looked really good. Amazing in fact. Especially considering how far out we are from release. Only need to look at the E3 demo to realize the game is looking very solid from a graphics point of view.

Tl;dr Kerrby, you are full of shit.
Wow, who would've thought a PS3 website would give a PS3 game a glowing review. Idiot.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=433305&page=3

Some of the first reviews of the demo.
man, that demo was weak.
EDIT: First thoughts are it's very rough looking, the performance is messy and the field of vision makes me ill. Nice job.
*sigh*

Wow..This was just awful, soulless, horrible and very boring demo, outdated graphics, garbage animations, generic looking environments, bad textures, and the gunplay is just freaking weak , completely unsatisfying and I felt nothing, this is most be one of the worst demos this generation.

I am not buying this, actually after at this point, I gave up on Insomniac completely and I am not buying anything from them, I gave them a chance after R2 disaster ( R:FOM was decent ffs, what a sad sad ending), but they continue their bad shallow efforts.

I am very disappointed.
im still gonna buy it because of the story but this demo left me unimpressed. think this was the wrong level to showcase a demo on.
I thought the demo was great.
- The first positive impression.
Demo crashed on me when in the middle of shooting up the longlegs (?) - not a good sign :P

Apart from that the demo was unimpressive, the boat level was a bad choice.

tl;dr A bunch of impressions not from a PS3 website but a bunch of hardcore gamers claiming it's bad/disappoiting.

That E3 demo looked horrible, I didn't see one good thing about it. He stood still most of the time while a few enemies climbed over a bus. How exciting .

Yeah I read that neogaf thread, quite a few cynical people, interesting how there were then 1/2 dozen or so that jumped up and said that it was pretty good and that it was after all - a demo.

Also in that thread, was a critical piece of information - the demo was a build that was very old, and was only supposed to be released to customers in the Asian region than perhaps wouldn't have seen any of that gameplay previsouly. It was not designed for worldwide consumption.

Every review I have read on recent versions of the game have been very positive on the graphics front - G4Tv, IGN (yeah yeah I know, pro ps3 sources) have all said it looks incredible.

If you think the E3 demo looks bad graphics wise then you need to take off your anti-sony spectacles.

Still have massive concerns over gameplay and structural issues though...

Wow, 1/2 dozen people said they liked it when the majority didn't. That sure is positive impressions of the demo alright...

I think you need to put on your normal spectacles because I said no such thing.

Tl;dr morell, you are full of shit.

No I am not anti-Sony. I'm very excited for the PS Vita and will be buying that day one and have done nothing but talk it up since it's magnificent showing at E3.

If anyone still cares about this game (echooo echooo) you can apply for the MP BETA.

Just in case you’ve been blissfully living underground, we want to remind you that there is a war with the Chimera going on. Would you kindly help us fight them off? All you have to do is fill out this form for the chance to apply to join in on the Resistance 3 Beta, which is starting soon. Those of you randomly chosen to brave the Bullseye bullets and Auger assaults will be treated to a sizable slice of the revitalized Resistance 3 multiplayer weeks before its full release.

If you aren’t among the first recruits given access to the Beta - don’t fret. We will be randomly distributing codes to a select few throughout the duration of the Public Beta. All are welcome to apply, but only some will be chosen for the opportunity to truly resist. Are you one of them?

When the BETA will happen:

Wanted to give you a head’s up about the Resistance 3 beta, when it’s launching and how you can get access. Starting next week, you may begin to see some of your favorite Insomniacs and others on PSN playing the Resistance 3 Beta. We are launching our Friends and Family beta next week in order to test our servers out before the mad rush of public beta users from SOCOM 4 and EU PlayStation Plus. We will be updating our servers, configs and patching the beta during the course of it to be sure we’re ready for the public beta in August, as well as the release of Resistance 3 on September 6th. We expect to run this Friends and Family beta over the next few weeks.

This is important, as many of you are holding early access vouchers to the public beta from SOCOM 4. The public beta is tentatively scheduled to begin in early August for those who got Early Access vouchers from specially-marked copies of SOCOM 4 in North America and for PlayStation Plus subscribers in SCEE territories.

Hopefully the beta is as well thought out and put together as Uncharted 3's, in that it's a true test of how it's going to work and what they're going to do.

Would be good if they do the different stages of beta like Uncharted 3's as well with different modes and maps every few days.

Some Aussie action from R3 Multiplayer.

Alice Springs lol

Still unsure if i will pick it up, will probably get it in an impulse buy if im bored lol, not that i dont have a few games to get through already

Played the boat level demo and my god it was horrible graphically and on top of that, i clear the ice so we can move on but the boat just sat there :o when i finally managed to finish the demo i was left unimpressed.

Beta is up on store and will download and give it a shot but judging from those vids i probably wont like that either. At least it looks better than the demo but thats not saying much :o

Looks incredibly bad. Where art thou Morell? So quick to talk shit and run off.

BETA impressions do not sound good at all. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=439092&page=24

Crashes, freezing, no one can connect to a game. Even though it's a BETA, the game should be atleast playable to some extent.

I got into one game this afternoon.

Was against 1 guy.:D...got killed pretty quick as I was mainly looking at the map and just as I respawned the game ended.

Tried to search for more matches to join for about the next hour and it just wasn't gaining me entry. But every beta is like this, they work them out relatively quickly and we get until the end of the month I think to play it IIRC?

Only thing I could really glean from the extremely small playtime was that I didn't like the sprinting, really bouncy and could be a quick cause of motion sickness (and I never get motion sickness).

If I can't join more games tonight I'll set up a private match and just run around the maps seeing how things feel.

It sounds like a mess.
All beta's start off as messes. The Uncharted 3 beta was in such bad shape it needed a patch put in on the first day. From there though it was incredibly smooth sailing and probably the best put on beta I've ever seen.

Anyway, I got into a game straight away just before and got in a few good solid rounds of gameplay...before being disconnected.:o

First thing, the running is DEPLORABLE. The screen bounces everywhere and it's incredibly hard to tell wtf you're doing. Really don't get this as it's certainly not been like that in previous Resistance's.

Apart from that, the game seemed to play relatively fine. Apart from getting my everything handed to me in the first match (literally went 1-11 with 6 assists:o:o:o) I improved in each round I played, even to the extent that I topped scored in the last round as well as going 12-6 with 5 assists.

Played on the Columbia map (the Alice Springs map isn't in this beta, only a Wales map and a Columbia one) and it was a really well designed map. Reminded me of the Bus Yard from Fall of Man, which was probably my 2nd favourite map behind the absolute behemoth of awesome Somerset.

The map wouldn't go astray in a COD4 or something (or the original Resistance with it's awesome maps too), just really tight quarters with some good focus points. Very impressed with the design of that map at the very least.

The aiming was alright, not overly precise at longer range with the Carbine and I only got the chance to use the Bullseye once after picking it up. But the best thing about the shooting is that unlike Resistance 2, the bullets feel like they're hitting and doing damage. You get the hitmarkers, the vibration feedback, the blood spurts and the bullets actually look to be going in and damaging your opponent.

Will need more time, but it's not terrible atm, only got a couple of terrible things in it.

Ah Trenty. Last time I "talked shit" you sent me a PM practically pleading for me to stop because you couldn’t handle it.

I do find it quite amusing that you think I give a flying fat rats clacker about Resistance 3. I couldn’t care less if it’s a bad game, other than yet more disappointment with modern gaming, I am not a gaming fanboi that aligns myself with one brand or another. I loved Resistance 1, it was and is still the best game I have played online, but Resistance 2 was terrible, I hated it and played it for no more than a day or two. COD 4 was OK, MW2 was awesome, Black Ops was woeful.

I hope it’s a good game, but I am not going to take it personally if its not.

There are plenty of positives in there too Trenty, take of your shit coloured glasses.

I will download the beta over the weekend and have a look, I will reserve any judgment until then. The "blur" effect when running appears terrible however.

Crashes, freezing, no one can connect to a game. Even though it's a BETA, the game should be at least playable to some extent.
So in Beta, it’s about at the same level as Black Ops is now?

review is up here....

http://au.ps3.ign.com/articles/119/1191975p1.html

i havn't read it yet but not going to bother getting the game cause not only is hbk gay but resistance is shit :)
You want it (and me) go on, admit it.;)

It's actually been getting decent reviews across the park. Joystiq, Eurogamer, Gametrailers, C&VG...all gave it a good score.

The beta has been alright. While nothing like the amazing Fall of Man it's got a really good close quarters combat type of feel and play to it. The maps are for the most part quite small (think Nuketown from Blops, maybe a bit bigger). The map design is very good and they have a very nice flow to them.

The only thing that's probably average is that the aiming isn't as smooth as it could be, but at least they toned down the horrible running from earlier in the beta.

So I'll be picking this up, probably instead of Dead Island now.

I will probably get it, just to catch up with all the old school R:FoM peeps and to see if they have One Hit CTF.

If only the CoD fanboi's knew the greatness of that first game. I guess it's hard to afford a $1000+ PS3 on release date when your 14.

First one was good online but i was too busy enjoying Warhawk so didnt play it much.

Anyway, gonna get this game with JBs trade in 3 for 1 (a few old games that are worth little trade in are not on the exclusion list :D) finish the campaign, maybe try a few rounds of multiplayer, then trade it in by the end of next week while trade in value is still high to pay off BF3 and MW3 pre orders :thumbsu:

lol IGN gave Resistance 3 a 9/10, they also gave Resistance 2 a 9.3/10 and that's one of the worst games I've ever played.
May be worth checking this out then Kerrbs.

Patrick Klepek makes it clear he disliked Resistance 2, but Insomniac have used the extra years development on Resistance 3 to make it significantly better.

(There's also a Quick Look with Patrick, Brad and Ryan)

Patrick Klepek is probably my most hated person on the internet but it still doesn't fill me with hope him giving it an 8 when everything gets 10s these days.

I also disagree with him saying
Weapons have always been Resistance's greatest strength
and then
It's no surprise the weapons are the star of the show here
makes me wonder how much he played of Resistance 1 and 2.

Introduction:
To simply say Resistance 3 is the best Resistance game yet isn't much of a compliment, given that the previous one wasn't very good.

Closing statement:
Thankfully, Insomniac has sent the series off in style. "The best Resistance yet" means something now.

Huh?

Klepek is your most hated on the internet? But...but...I thought I was.:(

Why dislike for him? He's actually bought a lot of credibility and reason to go to GiantBomb apart from their awesome video selection. Made them basically into a 'go to for news' site.
I also disagree with him saying and then makes me wonder how much he played of Resistance 1 and 2.
I dunno Kerrbs, if anything the real strength of Resistance 1 was in it's amazing weapons. Perfectly balanced, with a good amount of variety and every gun (bar maybe 2) was good to use.

Resistance 2 didn't differ too much from that. But it was quite easily a strength.

What would you say is Resistance's biggest strength if it wasn't the weapons?
