I'm a big fan.

If we rest Pattinson, we'll lose to India and then we are every chance for a priority pick where we can use an early draft pick to find another spinner in the upcoming test draft.......

Being our best bowler in the last test, you would say keep him in. However the selectors are in their own world, so who knows what they will do. Wouldn't be surprised if they rested Clarke for fear he may get heatstroke if he gets another hundred.

He bowled 33 overs. He's injury prone more so than any of our other bowlers apart from Rhino who is in a Shane Bond world of injury. I can see it happening even if it will hurt like hell.

Actually if they could call up Rhino for Bird, I wouldn't mind so much. He could probably last one match, couldn't he?

Meaning: we can't make a tough call on Starc or Siddle so we will "rest" our best performer.

Fits perfectly with what they were doing all summer.....

whether they do or not we'll see but i'm not entirely sure this actually helps them.

the problem is the result's aren't going to be known for about 4 or 5 years which is pretty much an entire generation in sporting terms (especially in quick bowling terms), aside from the superstars who are around for longer.

1-0 down, resting your best bowler. Madness! Surely bowlers need to be able to play more than one Test in a row. If the series is primarily over after the next Test then well and good but not when a series is on the line.

Love how they do this when a series is on the line. We saw how rotation worked in Perth in SA's second innings  .

****ing this!!!!! x a googleplex

seriously if they can't play two tests in a row then they are hardly fit enough for professional sport really?

i'm not a big fan of the rotation policy (and i reckon it hurst more than it hinders to be honest), but if we're gonna do it it can't be every second test. it needs to be very fourth or fifth test or dead rubbers.

I am actually a fan of the rest/rotation policy truth be told.

However - don't rest them in bloody test matches which are the pinnacle. Withdraw them from ODI series or T20 series as a means of rest, but not test matches.

absolutely rotate them through the one dayers. we've been doing this for 15 years anyway. maybe not as heavily as now, but we've been doing it. and we've generally choosing the right matches to leave them out of.
