Are Cousins, Judd and/or any other players officially being rested this week? With Gardiner playing forward and Cox injured, will Seaby ruck?

I think Woosha said up to 6 senior players will be rested, and that Gardi will play, but he won't ruck.

I hope they do give some of the young guys a go. It would be great to give them a chance to show what they can do at the senior level

Is this a lack of respect to the Collingwood FC? Are they resting 6+ players because they think they can win regardless or is it just that they would prefer to taper their preparation to Rd 1 outside of the Wizard Cup after this game (and therefore would prefer to lose this week)?

It is a Wizard cup game in Darwin remember mate, there's no 'lack of respect' for Collingwood.

Cuz was sore after the Freo game and Juddy sore throughout last week, regardless, it's not uncommon for senior players to be rested.

Seaby will ruck, Gardiner will play at the most half a game and apparantly Andrew Embley's younger brother might get a run.

Id like to see Darren Glass rested for a game just to see how our defense goes without him holding it up. Id like to see Jayhmie Graham replace him and have a game against Rocca. Id like to see Michael Embley get a game in the forward and games given to Mitch Morton, Adam Selwood and Brett Jones and also give Zach Beech a go at both rucking and defense

Is it a lack of respect for the WCE that Collingwood are resting Nathan Buckley?

Hope they get a ******** crowd if both teams decide to rest players. Fair enough
if the players are injured but very disappointing if there not.

Its not like we can watch an AFL game every week.

Im sorry, ill tell Woosh not to care about his players and their injuries. Its more important that you get to watch them play.

that's pretty much the story. Plus Woosh has said that he wants to get games into as many players as possible so there could be a few more rotations into the squad. But atm only Judd, Cuz and Cox are out from last week's team.

Steady on mate....resting Cuz and Judd is one thing. We still have Fletch, Kerr, Stinger, Embley, Braun etc but resting Glass is just asking for a spanking.

Resting Glass if he's fully fit is just not an option. It's not like we need to see of someone else can play FB better. Leaving him out and expecting a rookie to take his place without Glass playing along side him is very risky on a young guy's confidence. I think some people here aren't thinking rationally - it seems to be a case of "I want to see this guy play because I'm curious" rather than "let's follow a game plan that will achieve our goal whether that be winning the WC or preparing for the season proper".

I don't like the idea of resting both Cousins and Judd in the same game unless they both need it (i.e. injury, general soreness etc).

Cousins is reported to have a back related hamstring problem, this is a worry as this type of injury takes time to heal (probably have to carry it for the season). He will probably play through the pain, but whether he will be able to produce 100% is doubtful.

I'd rest any "senior" player who has any niggly injury.

If fit, Gardiner should play as he needs time against "enemy" bodies.

May I ask where? I realise clubs aren't always up front about these things, but both he and daniel chick have been in the paper swearing blind that his restricted movement as a result of a corky Chick gave him late in the final term during the intraclub- and that certainly did happen, I saw it myself when I was there.

I was told by a physio after watching the game. She (the physio) said that the Foxtel commentators had mentioned it and from looking at Cousins she thought that it sounded very probable. I have since watched the game tape and it is mentioned during the 1/4 time huddle.

Anyway I am use to Kevin Sheedy saying a person has "a bit of the flu", when they have broken their leg. All ducks and drakes.

I hope it isnt the same "back-related hamstring" injury he had last year, as that would suggest something a bit more serious

In case the news hasn't made it over there yet, Bucks did a hamstring in a practise game and is not available to play till round 1 of the real stuff.

It would be good if he was 'only' being rested. :(

Re Cousins back related hamstring:

I watched the game on Fox and I recall tosspot Manton mentioning from the boundary that Cousins had a relapse of the BRH. I was under that impression until I heard a conflicting story a few posts away.

Hopefully Manton was talking shyte like he did in his book.

He definitely did get a cork from Chick during the intraclub- happened just in front of me, late in the final term, classic knee to the thigh- prior to that Cousins was playing pretty well but after that he limped for the rest of the game.

Earlier this week in the west aussie, cuz was quoted as saying it had nothing to do with last year's injury, and the cork was why he was restricted on friday.

I guess that could be masking something more serious, but i don't see any reason why that couldn't be the be all and end all of it.

Nah, lack of respect i'd say.
