Very poor standard game.

Hartigan did the hammy again in the first 5 minutes, you'd expect him to be sidelined for a few weeks, he had plenty of tears flowing on the bench.

Foley was the best, again...just a ball magnet in the midfield. He couldn't do any more to get a go on an AFL list than what he's doing.

surely foley must be given a chance but for whom?
He'll have to keep waiting for injuries or a slump in form, but agree he deserves his chance. We'll probably see Rodan placed on the long-term injury list at some stage and see Foley be given a crack.

Foley probably does deserve promotion, but not when theres no one for him to replace
Hyde, Jackson, Raines & Roach are all knocking on the door with Gilmour not far off either

Not a bad problem to have though

Was at the game today and from what i saw Roach,Raines,Shultz, Gilmour
have a long way to go before gettin a game. They were all very ordinary.
Raines showed glimpses on occasions but seems to struggle to win his own ball. Shultz looks like he needs 2-3 weeks to be match fit and needs to be
played in defence. Gilmour is to small in my opinion.Roach had a good last quater when the game was over. All three smalls were on the bench for extended periods of time which is not a good sign for a recall.
Moore looked ok in defence
Now for some good news!!!!
A Pattison looked the goods and is a monty to play if Stafford doesnt come up? Looks as though he is definately a ruckman and not a forward. When he went up onto the ball in 2nd half he really lifted those around him.
Archibald was also very good playing in the centre providing plenty of grunt.
Jacksons attack on the football was brutal and the above mentioned players could learn alot about the game from watching him run around.Go Tigers

Tigers no match for Bullants
By Ross Booth
May 8, 2005

The Northern Bullants triumphed by 27 points over the Coburg Tigers in front of 3000 fans at Punt Road Oval yesterday, 13.14 (92) to 9.11 (65).

It wasn't the prettiest game of VFL football, but the win cements Barry Mitchell's Bullants in the top eight with three wins and three losses, and leaves Coburg languishing in the bottom third of the ladder, with only two wins from six matches.

The Bullants led all day and never really looked in danger of losing. Coburg's chances weren't helped when Brent Hartigan limped off in the first minute with the recurrence of a hamstring injury in his first game back.

In the first half, Bullant centre half-forward Digby Morrell appeared to be the main difference between the two sides, kicking two second-quarter goals from strong overhead marks.

The Bullants were in control by 37 points at half-time, but Coburg came out firing through the efforts of midfielders Nathan Foley, Brad Rayson and Daniel Jackson. The Tigers had their best quarter, outscoring the Bullants four goals to two. Tiger Kelvin Moore was Morrell's new opponent and kept him more under check in the second half.

Coburg coach David Flood juggled his side around in an attempt to get a key forward to take control, but none of Jay Schulz, Michael Rix, Shane Morrison or Adam Pattison was able to turn the game around.

Northern Bullants captain Frank Raso led by example after clashing heads with Tiger captain Eric Kuret midway through the first term, forcing both players from the field with blood streaming from cuts to the head that required stitches. Even the ball had to be replaced under the blood rule, but both players returned to feature strongly.

Sounds like Jackson is pressing for return and Foley for promotion. Good to have a bit of pressure for spots.

Unfortunately for him, there's no much chance of a promotion at the moment, there is no reason for the club to spend the extra money to do it unless we really need him out there. We have too many others pushing for a midfield spot already. Great to see him doing well though. Even though due to financial constraints we've only been able to make very limited use of the rookie list, we've done quite well getting Moore and Foley. Hopefully now the finances are finally looking right we can have a few more rookies each year.
