Good idea.
First we'll all band together and fix Richmond, dibs on being coach, then we'll all band together and fix the country, Libs and Labor have no ****ing idea (I'm sure we'll all be on the same page).
Look out world. Here comes Big Footy to the rescue.
We could run it like the occupy movement. We'll all take turns proposing our own strategies and we'll all vote on it by wiggling our fingers in the air before we return to our drum clique and hacky sack circle.

I propose we all meet at 7.00pm in groupies den for a group think. [Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle]

If you want video of what this would be like, season 2 episode 16 of The West Wing

Toby is sent to meet with a bunch of WTO protestors, and it descends into farce because (1) no one is in charge and everyone wants their voice to be heard, and (2) a unifying philosophy of "I'm pissed off" doesn't mean you agree on everything.

If we had a "supporters" member on the board:

1) who elects them, and is this outside the current board election by members

2) which supporters are they representing? The cheersquad, pre, bigfooty, the grog squad, aw listeners, sack dimma peeps, flowersniffers, those who want mcbean delisted, those who want mcbean to have a 10 year contract?

This role would die in a shit fight, and unfairly, because supporters will be pissed when their advocate no longer agrees with their every view. And given we cannot agree with anything on this forum, it's safe to say that will happen day one.

I still don't see how this role differs from one we already elect for the board though. The reality is with 70k voting members, the punters well and truly outweigh the coteries and the high end of town

whats worse? being 'dictated to' by a duly and democratically elected board, elected under the proper legal constitution of the club, or being 'dictated to' some dickhead supporters who weren't elected, have no constitutional constraints or limits, who feed on discontent and have no idea of long term planning, and react to every event with panic and outrage.

Seriously, if you want to run the club, then run for the board like anyone else does, justify your appointment, make your case and get elected. Its absolutely ridiculous to suggest the club should be run by 'supporters' who aren't elected, and have no rules or logic except 'outrage'. I certainly don't want you having a say in running our/my club.

Are you stalking me?
Maybe I have lunch breaks, maybe I am extremely well organised, maybe I was having a laugh, maybe I start early and leave late, maybe I am the boss, maybe the business I work in is currently up 100% on this stage last year, maybe I can multi task and maybe it's quiet today and everything is up to date
Sweet jesus i reckon you would make a great politician keep it up your going great gun's.

Who wants the club run by supporters? Whoever suggested that is complete dickhead.

However, the important things can be kept outside of the four walls.
Apparently keeping stuff inside the four walls is bad.

Great idea. Just how to do it without recreating the board. Only this time intended to sack everybody.

West Wing is amazing, might go back and watch it.

Which pub are we meeting in? Who's calling the press? Should I wipe my social media history?

Only joking.

Not for me.

Haere Ra
Damn i was going to endorse you as president.

There is a difference between being owned by supporters, and run by a management answerable to their representatives, and being "run" by supporters

Ultimately any group need to delegate authority to some form of leadership, or otherwise you get stasis through constant lack of consensus
