I really hope we keep him, I think he is the kind of player Mick likes.

Carlton locks in O’Keeffe“We obviously identified a couple of guys who were no longer required and we did that fairly early,” Carlton General Manager - Football Operations Andrew McKay said. “The next priority was certainly to lock away the few we hadn’t already (as) we’re confident of considerable improvement next season with our current list.”
“Rhys showed a bit in the senior games he played off a wing, and got a tough job on (Brendon) Goddard which was a good learning curve for him,” McKay said.
“He’s one who didn’t have a pre-season last year, in his case with a foot injury, and he’s another from whom you’d expect improvement with a full pre-season.”

McKay said we have just one pick in the rookie pick to use.
Make or break for O'Keeffe who is in a similar boat to that other injury prone player who received a one year offer from the Bombers.
Sharks On A Plane posted it, but there was nothing official on our website.
We're still waiting for official word about Watson, McCarthy, Laidler, McInnes, Mitchell and Duigan being re-signed.
We thought Davies and Collins were out of contract.
Ian Coutts?
Thanks Ian.Collins is out of contract as is Curnow..............or at least were until recently.
I wonder what the deal with Curnow's contract is... have we elevated him, put him onto a similar contract to Bells... I would like to think that we have elevated him. Thanks Ian.![]()
Carlton On The Rise: Rhys O'KeeffeYet his third match, the Round 23 loss to St. Kilda at the end of season 2012, saw him accumulate 15 possessions, giving many the impression that he had the ability to belong at senior level.
WHAT WE SAY
“A raking left-foot kick with an appetite to learn. Gives us enormous flexibility in that he can play through the midfield, wing and across half-back.” – Brad Green, Carlton Midfield Coach
STATS THAT MATTER
- Kicked 10 goals in the last 7 VFL games of 2012 season as a midfielder
Zach Galifianakis?
LUCKLESS Carlton rookie Rhys O'Keeffe is recovering from a serious bout of white staph infection.
The promising 22-year-old, who has managed just three AFL games in almost four-and-a-half injury plagued seasons with the Blues, contracted his latest and strangest ailment after suffering complications with a troublesome foot.
As I said in my review: Although he is constantly getting injured, his professionalism and attitude towards football is always positive and he remains upbeat. Each year we hope that his injury-riddled days are behind him; that never seems to be the case, but we remain hopeful. One thing we do know is that Rhys will remain grounded, stay positive and motivated and will always give 100%.Three months later, O'Keeffe is still taking antibiotics to rid his system of the infection, but his recovery has so far exceeded expectations.
He is now eyeing a late-season return to the VFL, and hasn’t given up hope of establishing himself as an AFL player.
"I've played at AFL level and I've never felt out of place. I know I can do it. It's just a matter of finally getting that little bit of luck and continuity," he toldAFL.com.au.
Mitch in fitness pitchBut the good news is that rookie-listed player Rhys O'Keefe is available for selection, having been idle for most of this season with a troublesome foot. O’Keeffe is expected to complete his comeback with the Northern Blues on Sunday.
