Miller would b going full bore in the preseason to get elevated I expect him to stand out ,unfortunatley I feel he will b selected r1 and also white,edwards and mcquane will prob b there too .I dont like it but ive got a bad feeling its gonna happen and we better well make the finals this season if they do or the year will b wasted somewhat.
Imo this year should again hav development as the high priority, not scrapping a few more wins out by playing these sub standard players in front of our real future.

Just about every poster here has put Dea in our backline which makes me want to scream he has shown next to nothing. I believe a quote from Hardwick stating he would play 22 games was taken far to literally. I have similar feelings about Helbig as I do to Dea all hype, shown nothing. Morris deserves the back pocket role locking down the small quick players that constantly tear us as seen on the weekend with his close checking on lindsay thomas and co and the weekend.
People not having Jackson is laughable we can all agree he has some form of semi ******ation of the footy field but is a big body we need and is clearly in our plans if we have just resigned him also a Hardwick favorite.
Miller will get first crack as 3rd tall and is not nearly as bad as people percieve him to be. he will need to perform otherwise derrickx will quickly take his spot.
i dont see the need to have a tall on the bench with so many versatile talls already on the field as much as i would love for derrickx to be there.
If we are truely planning to win games this year and not play kids for the sake of experience then tuck deserves to start.

I reckon he will play round 1, but there are so many options now its getting hard to choose the best backline going forward.

Whilst we could all mount arguments for some changes to this side, I agree it is pretty close to our best 22. Edwards for White or Ellis could well be argued but for every for there is probably an against.

Also agree Morris's name is already on the board for rd 1.

I just don't think he offers as much as the other guys at the point. All others have elite/close to elite disposal, Morris is mediocre at best. I would say Houli, Newman and Batchelor are more proven. Dea has been in line for a year or so now, only injuries have kept him out. I'm sure Dimma will want to give him first crack. The only one I could seem him replacing is Ellis, but personally I'd rather go with him. I'm just saying I don't think we can play all 5 of those HBFs, and for mine Morris is the one to miss out. Keep in mind we're talking ROUND ONE line ups only.

Yeah the sub is a real toss up edwards, white, webberly all play extremely similar roles im a fan off all of them but the end of the day they are just role players.

Matt White simply refuses to go away, you just can't hate him. However I do think if he plays more than 10 games this year we will be in strife. Wouldn't mind seeing him in the side round 1, you know he'll give it 110%. Probably out of him or A. Maric for a spot, depending if the latter is elevated.

I like your side, and agree with most of it, except I think Edwards will play, as he seems to be Dimma's love child. Dimma has shown from last year that no matter how poor his form is, he gets an automatic gig in the best 22, which really annoys the crap outta me as I don't rate him at all.

Also, I don't think White offers much as a sub. The only time White has proven to be effective is playing that run-with negating role, similarly how he played against Yarran rd 1, so there's no point playing him as a sub, as he is not an impact player. I'd much rather giving A. Maric a go.

I know it seems like splitting hairs, but if you look at top teams with players sub 180cm (instead of 175), it's a whole different kettle of fish.

Geelong - Chapman (179), Stokes (177), Christensen (176) and Byrnes (175)

WCE - Masten (179), Kerr (178), Hams (174)

Blues and Pies have a couple each.

To me, it's only an issue if the rest of the team is of average size. But we have a huge mix of tall and solid players to complement a few smalls, as long as those smalls are proficient at what they do.
