Or someone similar. Hear me out before you laugh.
Tim Watson took a grand-final side and ruined it over two years in 99/00. We tried to get the big name coach (Blight ... Wallace?) and it failed miserably.
Instead of going out and looking for the next high profile candidate, we looked inside.
Richmond need a man at the helm who bleeds yellow and black. Who has given his every ounce of energy to the club and wants nothing more in his life than to see them succeed. Who is willing to do whatever he can within the limits of his mortality to get them over the line.
The Tigers need a Richmond man at the helm. Someone whose personal pride is affected by every point the opposition kicks.
When Grant Thomas took over at the Saints, he was widely criticised for knowing nothing about football (harsh and unjust comments).
But he had the ability to instill leadership, belief and change a culture. For one reason.
He bled for the club and was a Saints man through and through.
Richmond need a Tigers man desperately. Someone who played for the club, who loves the club and who can engineer leadership and belief amongst the playing group.
Hopefully Garry March has the courage that Rod Butterss had and gets rid of the high-profile candidate in Wallace ....
Install a Richmond person.
It is the only way forward.
