I thought we alernated home games with Richmond in round 1, meaning that it should be our home game in 2010.

According to Caroline Wilthon (no it is not a typo :D), it will be Richmond's home game in Round 1.

Our home game is in Round 20 againt the Tigers.

Richmond has been handed an additional two home games at the MCG and won the right to host the season-opener against Carlton on Thursday, March 25.

The finished version of the Tigers' fixture has seen the club handed the right to host the Richmond-Carlton clash in round one for the second year in succession in a bid to compensate for the absence of home games against Essendon or Collingwood. That decision will prove a financial fillip for the club as Carlton was unwilling to split the gate receipts from that game, something the Tigers have agreed to do.

If its true that we are unwilling to split the gate then we have nothing to complain about. Thats a bad bit of business right there. (IF true of course)

Carlton shouldn't split the gate with Richmond. Big crowd round 1, yeah, but when the season goes on 50-60k is all these 2 draw at BEST (it rarely gets near 45k in their 2nd game, too much of a yoyo game)...look it up. Round 1 should be rotated...........ie. its our bloody turn, or piss this basket case off and we will play someone else. We split the gate with Coll & Ess because it always draws the same...ie. All 4 games drew over 80k this year.

Richmond's days of being a big 4 club are long gone. Thats why Carlton , Collingwood, Essendon & Hawthorn have the biggest vic membership bases.

No Judd, No Fev, No Cousins is our savior crap, no big promises, Nothing = 70-75k in round 1.

Please, by all means discuss the game, even though it is still 5 months away, but lets see if we can keep the posts away from name calling and the like.

Does this rule apply to carlton posters as well?

Isn't that the main reason for spliting the gate? That 1 match may draw a larger crowd than the other. If the crowds were always big then there would be little point in doing that.

It's been covered, but my understanding is that, in the original draft of the 2010 fixture, Carlton had this as a home game. Benny Gale and Gary March went to AFL and pointed out that we had no blockbuster home games, whereas your mob had one against Collingwood, one against Essendon as well as the season opener. The AFL then changed it so that now you have two home "blockbusters" - as well as the away games (Ess, Coll) where (I believe) you share the takings - and we have the round one game.

And as an offshoot; Parrot, last season you said we'd play 6 30+ year olds in the season opener. We didn't. Now you're saying we'll play 3 30+ year olds. Chances are, we won't.

Yep and last year, you and your feral tiger mates came onto our board pre the opening game going on and on about how you were contenders and how you were gonna smash us............well we all know how that ended up for you.

Half way through the first game of the season and your season was over.

Why dont you give us a prediction of which round next season your season will be over?

Jesus, cormick, you've started early. Can't you give us a break over the off-season before moving into the spare room? FMD...

does anyone now if Nahas is free to play in round 1? I just dont think we can beat Richmond if Nahas lines up for them.

Rumor has it that they have appointed him captaincy after his "breakout" season. :o

You can be 100% assured Richo, Cousins and Simmonds will play round 1 i.e. the 32 to 35 year old set. Is there any other team in the AFL playing so many players in this age group? Can't think of any. Just strange for a team that's meant to be "rebuilding". Richmond talk about a "youth policy" but it's a bit of a myth when you look at their lineup. :)

hate to break it to you rosstickle, but the tiges aint no geelong !
be like us putting kruz & hampson up forward & saying they are the same height as the saints key forwards so they are similar.
Geelongs been the best team for nearly 3 seasons or close to it, whereas the tiges, well they've been at the other end of the scale.

With your last 25 years, it makes sense to play your biggest game of the year in round 1. Ferals are cutting up cards, spitting at coaches and dropping cow shit at the front door by round 2 :thumbsu::D

Richo is still to commit for next year and Simmons has been given a year as a back up ruck, yet you are 100 per cent sure.

if richo played for Carlton you would put him on a 4 year contract now that fev is gone. if you had of picked up Cousins, he would be the cherry on top to your midfield. and would not count as being a 30+ because he isnt playing a big role. and Simmonds. well i dont think anyone wants him. a "youth policy" doesnt involve playing 22 kids every week.

Why are Richmond supporters so dumb?

Cousins doesn't count as being 30+ because he isn't playing a big role? Fail. I've never seen anyone genuinely believe that a player doesn't count as over 30 years old because he doesn't/wouldn't play a huge role.

You don't know if anyone wants Simmonds? Fail. I know 1 club that wants Simmonds - Richmond. Otherwise you wouldn't have signed him up to a new contract recently.

Please, you have 2 options here:
1) Come onto the Carlton board but think BEFORE posting. Quite frankly we are sick and tired of morons coming on here and posting complete and utter crap.
2) Stay on the Richmond board where it is common to think AFTER posting, and enjoy conversing with people that share your stupidity.

This thread has a feeling of de ja vu about it. I seem to recall sparring with the same Richmond numbnuts in Jan/Feb this year about pretty much the same stuff. We tried to tell them about the perils of the age of their list and how they were destined for the fall we all knew was coming, only back then we didnt realise the fall would happen in RD1 this year. Now we know, and yet they stil want to argue the same points, they still dont get it, they seem to still want to cling to the methods that have failed them so badly in the past thus consigning themselves to yet more years of misery.

Oh dear look who has arrived onto our board

Do we have to put up with 5 months of this guys drivel :(

why should it matter that 3 guys out of 40 on our list are over 30?
last time i checked richo and cousins would get a game at any club and simmonds is there for the soul purpose to shield vickery similar to cloke being there to shield kreuzer.
doesn't matter how old they are, simmonds and cloke are both shit.
richo and cousins on the other hand would be in ur 22 if u had them
