Has anybody heard the latest on Ty Zantuck and the standoff with Richmond? SEN (KB) suggested this morning that the deadline for delistings was this week (tomorrow?).

Whilst we're on the subject, does anybody know specifically whom the falling out was with and/or what it was over? The only mail i've heard was that it was with Campbell after the Hawks game where he tried to maul Williams.

I don't believe Essendon will take him, and the Kangaroos seem to have dropped off as well. The Bulldogs are reported to be interested. Zantuck has Richmond over a barrel, and as usual the Tigers haven't handled it well. They should have kept the bad feelings that exist between the two parties in house. Also the coach should never have informed the media that Zantuck bagged some of his team mates at their one on one meeting. It is generally accepted that those end of season one on one's are strictly between the player and coach. At least I'll bet Zantuck thought so !
It will make it hard for him to go back and play for the Tigers after Wallace blabbed to the media. They don't want him, and he doesn't want to be there, BUT Ty Zantuck has $250,000 reasons for not leaving, as well. Suffer Richmond.

stick to your stargazing little knob :D

Zantuck is on 175,000 a season but has potential to earn upto 250k depending if he plays all year and wins our B & F

Fat chance of either of those happening.

It's not like the guy set the footy world on fire, so the worst happens and he is stuck at Richmond, big deal he wont even get a game for coburg, Ty might aswell give footy away for the year.

No bending RFC over a barrel, what a stupid comment, he wont be needed anyway, we will struggle in 2005 if he plays or doesnt Ty has ruined his footy career.

Ty gets paid next year no matter what happens. If he doesnt quit then Richmond must pay his salary for him to sit at home and do nothing. He has the power, if he is delisted the Tigers must pay his salary with his new club paying mininum salary and Richmond the difference

Power? Do you really think Wallace is going to play him if he doesn't want too?
Hello? Hello? are you still there? No football team will take a player that thinks he's bigger than the team. I have no doubt that if he isn't offloaded he will not be playing senior football until he proves he deserves it. i.e 6 months of training his guts out. If Wallace was to put him in the team and play him in round 1 it would undermine his authority - something he'll be trying to stamp on the players foreheads. He won't put up with Ty's sh*t! If he stays at Richmond he'lll be lucky to get a game at Coburg - hardly a good career move. Richmond will pay his wage for the year and he'll be delisted 5 seconds after round 22 ends. He's hardly going to be selected and get extra $ for match payments. Why would we give another club virtualy a free player and look after the tosser Ty's interests? List him as injured - a brain injury!

get it right - the comments referred to were ones Zantuck had made when talking to other clubs.

If these details are correct it makes it all the more surprising that Miller was late getting the trade papers to the AFL. You would have thought TZ was the first player that the Tigers would have off loaded!

No one has anyone over a barrel here. Richmond have no way of forcing zantuck out without paying his salary. If Zantuck doesn't leave he has no chance of playing AFL footy ever again. He can go to another club for less money by mutually agreeing to modify his contract and at least show that he can still play footy and possibly continue his career, or he can sit out the year (I doubt he will even get a game at coburg) take his money and end his career. NO ones going to take him next year after a year out of football with his additional social problems.

Spot on highflyer. It may seem to some that Ty has some hand, but the only hand he's giving himself is to end his own career.

Sure Ty will sit out 05, take his 175K, party like its 1999, turn into blubber boy.. Get a few jobs in the underworld, and then sign up for the rock'n'roll come 2006.

Adios.

If the Tigers don't play when he is good enough to be in the side, I can see another Matthew Croft law suit happening. He has the power. Richmond once again have none.

Yeah whatever you reckon peter pan. The only power he has is to accept $175,000 for doing nothing. Get fat and ruin his career. He possess the potential power to play next year by resigning fromn the RFC, as from what I can tell, he wont be playing for us ever again.

Richmond are not obliged to play him in any way whatsoever, but ARE obliged to pay him. Nothing more.

He bagged his teammates to other clubs in interviews, he can fuxk off now.

What was the principles of the croft incident. If he is 175k + game payments that a preformance based contract. Meaning that they are legally required to play him or he could sue like Croft did. If he is good enough to be in the side, he entitled to every cent of his match payments like the Bulldogs admitted Croft was.

He may not play for you again but you''ll be paying him his game payments.

big difference between croft and zantuck.zantuck wants to leave. If he stays then for team harmony he wont have aleg to stand on in regards to compensation for earnings lost.

cheers!
since when does team harmony make him a lesser player on the field. thats a team issue not an individual issue. it would be zantuck suing not the team.

him not wanting to be there has nothing to do with this case - the fact is he is contracted. im sure he'd rather earn his game payments than nothing.

It has everything to do with it.Punt road is the last place he wants to be.Now if you were coach would you want a player in your side knowingly he dosent want to be there.not putting in 100%.This is all his own doing. In fact you could say he,s already in a breach of contract by not attending the pre-season training.

cheers!

In that case, Wayne Carey sleeping with his VC's Missus was an individual issue, not a team issue.

I certainly know I wouldnt wanna play with someone I know who is prepared to sleep with his mates missus. Likewise I wouldnt wanna play in a team where a team mate has bagged the rest of us.

If you cant see a team issue there, you are stupider than I thought Robin.

zantuck is probably good enough to be in the side. im not saying he will be next season but if he hates richmond that much, i dont see why he wouldnt sue.

Richmond are being silly anyway. They say they wont play him again yet wont offload him, surely him sitting in the VFL is worthless. why not just let him go if he is rubbish?

He was told not to turn up to training. Which is not a violation of his contract.

Yes. I understand where you are coming from but for a start Carey quit and wasnt officially sacked. North merely let him quit and mutually agree to terminate his contract. Similar to what would happen if Zantuck went into the PSD. A mutual agreement. Im sure a players contract notes reasons for dismissal and Im sure offfield behaviour would be a reason for potential dismissal. Zantuck has not done anything of that nature.

Yeh, you wouldnt want to play in a team with him but with the potential for legal action you have to remember Zantuck's contract and any potential suing would be considered from his prespective not the teams.

As for your third paragraph, I know it the football sense it is a team issue for the team but it isnt for him and a court of law will consider it from his point of view and the from what the expectations of the contract were. If he is good enough to play in the team and they dont play him then there is a potential for legal action over the remaining $75k. It was in the clubs best interest to not play Croft but that didnt mean the Bulldogs werent liable.

It was agreed upon by both parties.Once again it comes back to his own doing.end of story.

cheers!
Yeh but you said it was breach of contract on his behalf. I agree he was told not to turn up and he agreed. SO it was an agreement so no breach of contract.

all Richmond would have to do Peter Pan is not play Zantuck first round then he would have to prove himself at coburg in which, most likely he wouldn't, therefore not deserve a senior berth! if he doesn't leave Richmond this week he will never play AFL again

Apparently there was a meeting between Wallace, Miller and Zantuck today. I imagine we'll have an outcome sooner rather than later.
If Zantuck had a firm offer from Essendon, the Roos or anyone else, you'd reckon he would've been de-listed already. No doubt he'd be as keen to go as the Tigers are keen to get rid of him. If he hasn't been able to secure an alternate club, I would've thought his only option is to meet with the coaching staff, tuck his tail between his legs and apologize like hell. Otherwise it's all over, and he'll spend a year in purgatory waiting for the door to be closed on his career.

I heard KB state this morning that No other club was interested in picking him up, and if thats the case then it really leaves one alternative in my view. And that would be for the club to pay him out ( i assume thats possible) leaving richmond with the business of finding players who are committed wholely to the club.

I believe that ty has burnt way to many bridges to find away back, and to leave him on the list would proabably serve no real benefit to eather party.

If on the off chance another club expresses an interest in him, then i wish him the best of luck.

Apparently it was reported on SEN today that he is leaving Richmond, a financial settlement was agreed on.

Zantuck's contract wasn't performance based, every player gets match payments and bonuses. Its when you get a lower base salary and extra on top of the regular match payments that it becomes performance based.

I heard that as soon as Wallace was appointed, he went down to the club and pulled each player aside and told them roughly what he expected of them in 2005. Apparently, when he pulled Zantuck aside, Zantuck told him to get ********ed and go tell someone who cares as he wouldn't be at the club.

Also heard from many sources that he became very chummy with the son of the Tigers former CEO (can't remember his name but was sacked earlier this year), who was an absolute drop-kick. Got into drugs, fights etc and was just hanging out with scum. The whole senior leadership group lost all respect for him.

The sort of guy, you definitely wouldn't want around at your club.
