Love the stories about how it was back in those day

To train under a hard arse like Bourke after a loss after a full day at work would be harsh stuff.

Eating take aways afterwards. LOL. probably nullified all the benefits.

Alot of player scored some cushy jobs like reps for sporting companies but some blokes would have had a battle putting VFL around full time work.

The question that we all want answered.

What happened after 1982 ?

Strange he identified Woosha Welsh as one of the recruits that was not right for us. I remember him being a very capable player.

Roachy had plenty of other choices.

Mugavin,Sutton,Brewer,Martello,Sarah,Peart and the list goes on.

Edit: Whoops he said Phil Walsh and John Annear. Walsh was at least a younger player as opposed to the washed out hacks but Annear was better than many of the above.

Needless to say I loved that! :p :thumbsu:

Thanks boss for posting it up... Disco always came across as a great bloke & love how he is still very keen on The Tigers.
Great stories from our last successful era.

Pity some of you younger Tigers on here did not get to experience 1980... was a brilliant year to be a Tiger supporter.
A flag + the likes of KB, Raines, Cloke, Wiley, Rowlings, Wood ripping it up & the big fella # 8 kicking 112 goals + a memorable grab.

Great memories... :thumbsu:

We had Disco, Flea and Rob Wiley here last year for a Back to 1980 night. I hosted an On the Couch with them.....fabulous speakers, great stories and lotsa laughs it was a great night. Top blokes into the bargain. Don't mind a red or two either lmao

How much does Richo love the Tiges? He was like a kid in a candy store. I love Roachy's humility - what a superstar he was. That '79 grab was his best but he took screamers just about every week. I stared at that lap of honour photo for a while - great memories (top deck of the Ponsford!) and dreams of what may come. It is staggering to think we couldn't snaffle another flag with that group of players. Disco only kicked two in the GF - that's how strong we were!

Yeah they were great. I got to speak to all three. It's amazing how positive they are about everything 30 years on.
