Sick of some tiger fans constantly bagging him tbh. IMO we need to find him a position there and KEEP him there. Be it on the HBF, the wing or up forward. He seems to play 3-4 different roles during each game.

Didn't see that, but I did see him go in hard and put his head over the ball and win a free kick.

...ahh ritchie...saw him cop two heavy tackles today for the team one of which resulted in a goal...:thumbsu:...
...saw him also hand of a quick handball that was too quick for two tigers to react to...:thumbsu:...
...hes doing the hard yards learning the game...one day soon ritchie is going to explode and show us that running magic...hardwork builds confidence...go ritchie!!...

As crazy as this sounds to some I would have JR and Tambling leading from the square as perhaps dual FF with JR leaning to stay back for the one on ones.

I think Tambling is simply to light to be effective down back and in the midfield. If this is the case his kicking for goal needs to get more consistent!

Tambling really needs to get over this. It's no one's fault but his own if he's so affected by it.

I think players need to look for him more. I always think he's had more of the ball than what he actually has had before I look at the stats. He's a beautiful user of the ball, I reckon players need to dish to him more like they dish to Lids, Cotch and Collins.

Possibly, Tambling needs to get braver. Even today he pulled out of a contest. That should come with time when his body gets stronger.

what when hes 28 or 30? he's been in the system for 6 effin years enough with the BS excuses.

TigerT, what I mean by that is there is no point in tambling popping a shoulder when we are on the bottom of the ladder.

As long as he puts his body on the line in the GF that is all that counts.

Timing is everything and in that way Tambling is playing smart. He is courageous but he is not stupid.

As long as Tambling knows he needs to put it all on the line when we are in the finals its fine by me. This is why I would perserve with Tambling. I would like his kicking disposal to improve though!!

Which lower-placed clubs would that be? Frankston? Werribee? Ringwood?

Or have I been whooshed?:D

I think i know what you are on about and its a funny thing. Ive been a tiger since 72 but a few years a close family member got drafted. So things are a little complicated.

Just dont rate tambling. nothing to do what number he got drafted. Just doesnt have anything special to offer and not being a smart footballer stuffs things up for the side.

Yea and 5 of those years coached by the master of spin, was very good late last year under Jade, and is starting to understand how DH works and is starting to shows signs of last years form.
Guys like Bling , Edwards, Collins, Connors ( despite suspension ), and King are all starting to show consistancy which they weren't under TW.

give me a break, you have 4 of the 5 names u mentioned right, bling has been horrible this season, wayyyyy off last season... 5 years of master of spin doesnt excuse any physical excuses ppl use for him(not just MM'a quote, others are always mentioning it. Why do ppl ALWAYS look to back this spud up? If its not physical its emotional or mental excuses, just face facts he's not very good and never will be.

not sure that richo had to come out and say this, was more than an apparent the kid has faced some demons...whether it was precisely that or his talent limtiations, combo of both for mine...but this show of faith from a club legend sure wont help a fragile mind...

Agreed Bo, and in the end, very poor journalism because Richardson was not even at the club anymore when Tambling went through his hypnotism or whatever and played some great footy last year. WTF would the big man know about his mindset after that important turnaround? Zilch I'd say.

Tambling was good today - as he has been since he got over his early injury problems and lack of pre-season this year. He reminded me momentarily of Mitchell (posture and pace) as he streamed through the centre and had 3-4 bounces today.

I just wish everyone would get off his back and let him concentrate on playing football, no other draftee has copped as much shit as him. Why don't the bloody media go round up the 70+ first draft picks from the last decade who never made it to 10 games and give them the 'how does it feel to be not as good as [insert battler spud]' routine?

Richo should have told them to stop flogging a dead horse, go find a real story and go **** themselves.

I think he looks best in the backline. Maybe try him as the BP in place of Farmer or drop Newman to BP and play him HBF.
Like this:
Newman McGuane Moore
Tambo Deledio Connors
Might be a bit small against larger teams though. Either that or have him interchanging from wing to HBF with Lids/Connors..

I'm happy to give him a free pass to this year, due to the surgery he had in pre season, doesn't seem to have the pace and nipiness he had last year... Needs a big preseason. One thing I do like from him, is that even though he isn't doing a lot with the pill, he lays some hard tackles and does the physical stuff...

Also, loved that run through the middle, he gripped the ball in one hand and showed some "Brennan" flair. I just wish he had the confidence to kick in the 50 and hit someone, rather than the handball..

His endeavour cant be faulted, he is trying his heart out, but he is completely lacking any confidence in his ability. Its as if he doesnt trust his ability, if indeed its still there and not lost. Huge concern in that quite alot of plays broke down after he was one of the links in them. As for tackling, yeah he is laying them hard etc etc....but Richie needs to understand that there is tackling that forces turnovers and holding the ball and there is tackling that just stops the game for a ball up. We need the former and not to much of the latter. He should be told or educated in the timing of tackles. i.e. dont pounce on the ball carrier a nanosecond after he has the ball, when you can see that he aint gunna release it in a hurry and a delay of a second or so, will cause a panic and release or a free. Players know where they are at when they get it, if they get it and someone locks them in with a tackle a split second after they get it, 99% of the time the ump will call a ball up. Richie doesnt quite understand how useless that is in modern footy. ;)

Plenty of top 10 picks dont come on at all. At least we have a serviceable player that may get better as we do. We have made enormous blunders over the years with our recruiting yet this one seems to get discussed more than most. I dont see why.

:thumbsu:Agree. Will be a good solid 200 gamer for our club Tambling and will have moments of brilliance.
There's top 5 and 10 picks whose careers span about a quarter of Tambling's!!!
Let hime be!
