Think we can confidently discount any chance of the Indians contributing $$ to North because of Ricky's association with us.

In fact they are probably burning effigies of kangaroos in the streets of Madras right now.....

First, Geelong got to the Indian team before we did.

Second, would be a mistake to confuse the views of the Indian public with that of the Indian team (and worth remembering that losing Indian cricketers are only marginally less unpopular in their country than losing Kiwi rugby players. Sport and national pride inextricably linked).

My father lives in Kolkata part-time, and is continually astounded by the reverence for Australian cricketers.

Think it was the Dees who got on the backpage of the paper with Sachin wearing a Melbourne jumper, next to David Neitz.

Fair dinkum.

Sounds like they would have been happier if they had have been thumped like they were last week. And a minority of Australian "supporters" would be happier if our team didn't keep winning.

I think there are alot of Australians who would like to see our team win fair and square.

There seems to be alot of hypocrisy in the Australian Cricket team.

What was not fair and square about this win?

The captains agreed before this series that they would either take the word of the fieldsman taking a catch, or if not sure, just let the umpires make the decision. And that is exactly what happened in terms of the catches.

How about not walking when you know your out and Im not just talking about Symonds. Michael Clarke did the same thing. Surely you dont need the umpire to put his finger up when you know you have hit it and have clearly been caught.

How about also appealing for a catch when you know that the batsman didnt hit it which was what happened with Dravid.

As many incidents of "not walking" you pick out of the Aussies, there were just as many for the Indians. Sharma edged it to Hussey on that last ball and he wasn't walking. Ganguly edged it to 3rd slip and he didn't walk.

And what about Sharma "accidentally" bringing out two right handed gloves? No one mentions that as being a deliberate ploy to slow the game.

Not to mention how unsporting it is to slag your opponent off as a cheat at the after match press conference.

The Aussies are an easy target to point the finger at. They aren't perfect, but who the hell is? Tall poppy syndrome runs riot every time we win a close test.

I know you didn't mention it, but if I hear anyone criticising Ponting and Symonds for Harbajan's suspension once more I'll scream. If racism is to be taken out of sport, how the hell are you supposed to do it? By saying nothing when it happens.

Rant over.

Ganguly didnt think the ball carried and has every right to stand his ground. Symonds and Clarke knew they were out yet stood there.

It has nothing to do with Tall Poppy syndrome. The Aussies do seem to get the rub of green on home soil. Its been happening for years.

The game is controlled by the umpires. If we get the rub of the green, its not the players' fault.

Re: Tall Poppy syndrome. You can't tell me that if Australia wasn't a very successful team, that they'd be getting the criticism they are today over some catches, not walking and reporting some racial comments to an umpire.

But the same could be said about Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman. The one and only point I'm trying to make out of any of this is it happens. Shit happens. You move on. The Australian team is regularly called sooks, mostly out of jealousy that nobody can better them, and the first time they make a legitimate complaint it starts all over again.

They can't have it both ways.

So its not the players fault if they appeal for a catch that didnt go near the bat?

So because they are a successful team we should just applaud them and not worry about the lack of integrity in cricket today?

Keepers will appeal anything when they hear a knick. It happens all over the world, not just in Australia.

Well said.

What irks me more than anything is some stuff back in the 90s. When we toured South Africa in 94, Merv got in trouble for having a go at a spectator and Healy for throwing his bat as he walked up the players race after getting a bad decision.

The media was all over them about what a disgrace these two were and yada yada. Three years later when South Africa were here, Hansie Cronje stabbed a stump through the umpires door after losing a close test match and it was hardly even mentioned in the media.

Bloody double standards.

Both teams did things 'outside the spirit of the game', both teams had poor umpiring decisions and both teams played really well in spots.

Someone had to win, Ricky had the stones to throw Clarke in and he got lucky.

Appealing hey? Please go back to Harbarjan's ball to Ponting and the LBW? He knew that he hit the ball, why did he appeal for lbw?

Yeah tough call that one. He wasnt out but he should have been given out earlier so how can he really complain.

I'm not saying any of the Aussies are angels, but the Indians were happy to take Ponting's word when he said the ball bounced before he grasped a catch early in the match, but it wasn't good enough when he said Michael Clarke took a catch when standing right next to him.

Agree with your rant. Some outside things went the Australians' way, but they had to do an awful lot right themselves - and India had to make plenty of mistakes for themselves. Dravid could have been luckier - but a team as good as batting as India is should have done a fair bit better, especially against part-time bowlers. The umpires did not help but they didn't decide the match all on their own.

And while the Australians aren't perfect - I was very disappointed no-one was shaking Kumble's hand while they revved each other and the crowd - I won't be heading to India for lectures about the integrity of the game either.

Am I the only one finds it hilarious that a nation that has continually played the neutral umpire and race card is breaking the decibel record whinging?

They had Australia on the rack after the first 3 hours of the test match, yet found themselves on the rack in the last three hours.

Buncha sooks.

No you're not. I'm right behind ya.

Exactly, it was there own problems for not holding on for 9 minutes even though they tried to cheat along the way.
