Wouldn't be too concerned about yesterday. Some players were played out of position eg. Astbury at full back. Several players are underdone and several players don't take practice matches too seriously. So a 10 goal loss is almost on the cards. The main thing is that Batchelor, Conca and Helbig look like playing Round 1. A bit of young class in defence, midfield and up forward is just what we want to see. Getting Post back into the side is also what the club needs. Give Post, Reiwoldt and Vickery a bit of time to get their fitness up and they will gel up forward. Griffiths isn't far away either. My only worry is that Nahas keeps getting in the best. We need to squeeze players such as Nahas, Miller, Jackson, White out of the side. Lets hope Taylor has a good one for Coburg this weekend. Would like to see Houli up forward. Need to make use of the small/mid size forwards on our list

I just don't see it, was going to go to the round one game but now I think I'll be too ashamed, better to watch from home so I can turn it off at half time.

By the way MT, a wise man once said, "have an opinion, don't be opinionated", please stop trying to constantly shove your 'squeeze players x, y and z' rhetoric down everyones throats day in day out, we know your stance, it's fair enough and with grounding, you know ours, stop bringing it up unless something new is brought to fore please, it's just tiresome.

MT wasn't too far off the mark there, good news is I saw Big griff only hours ago at waverely he looked in fine fettle and Im sure won't be too far away...there's alot of water to go under the bridge before R 1 , if anyone was to use yesterdays hitout as a reference point for THURS week, More fool them:eek:

Feel the same but already have my airfare booked. God if it ends up like Rd 1 2009 I will kill myself.
That game did not help our membership drive either.

Mate, in all honesty, there's a fair chance we'll be seeing 2 or 3 kids debut, and a few senior blokes coming in well underdone. It can't possibly be anything like 2009, since back then we probly had an average age off 27 or so, we were expected to be competitive, if not win. Expect it to be more like last year, we'll struggle but hopefully a few more fresh faces will make their mark ;)

That is the funniest thread I've read in a long time MT and I am dumber for reading it. It great to create a thread to be positive but you still have to make sense.

I'm guessing you love Xmas as that thread is an open invitation for Santa Claws to come along , bend you over and give you a good old fashioned rogering.

Can you please explain the positives of our forward line not functioning and planning on playing our star full forwad at chf after only one practise match. I'll stop there.

I'm generally excited about having Reiwoldt, Post, Taylor and Vickery/Griffiths in the same team. Let them gel together and improve their fitness and we'll have a dangerous forward line.

Dangerous forward line? I literally laughed.
Mate that forward line would be destroyed, this isn't 1995 where everyone bombs the ball inside 50 and it is 1 on 1 contests all around the ground.
Forward line pressure is one of the key parts of todays game, don't apply it and you get romped.

Once the ball hit the ground it would be coming out of our forward half quicker then you could blink.

King, Houli, Helbig, Morton, Macdonald, Hicks will provide plenty of crumbing and defensive pressure. Reiwoldt is the highest F50 tackler in the league. Griffiths is very quick and Taylor can play tall or small. Dunno what you're laughing at, even worse you're laughing at your own team

You are a laugh MT. You name 4 tallish forwards in Jack Post Taylor and Vickery/Griffiths as lining up in the F50 and then when told that it lacks defensive pressure you then name 6 players who will provide the crumbing and defensive options. Thats 10 players you've got down for the forwardline yet it only has 6 spots available.

FF: griffiths reiwoldt taylor
HF: morton post houli
INT: helbig

4 talls, 4 smalls if you count Taylor as either
Good balance if you ask me

I forgot how much forward line pressure Morton applied when he played there...
Oh hang on a sec, he's forward line pressure was pretty much non existent.

As for Houli, half the reason the Essendon coaches didn't like him was because he was a downhill skier, no where to be seen when the opposition had the footy.

I'm not laughing at our list, i'm laughing at you and how delusional you are.

How you can count Taylor at 190 odd cm as a small is beyond amazing. Also who is your crumbing forward as none of those guys are genuine crumbers?

He's 192cm but can rove like he's 182cm and jump like he's 202cm. Houli and Morton will be able to clean up on the forward flanks. I'd like to see Helbig get games and mainly play in the pocket. Same with Macdonald and Hicks. King will also get plenty of games but he's suspended Round 1.

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

My personal fave is the bit about Nahas being the best players all the time when we actually need him out of the side .

Nahas to Madtiger ...."Sorry for playing well all the time scrote":cool:

Let me summarise again

-Post back in the team after niggling injuries FINALLY giving us 3 tall forwards in the same game. Nearly every game last year we had only 1 or 2 tall forwards. Maybe twice we had 3 tall forwards when Reiwoldt, Post and Taylor played. We looked alot better when we had 2 tall forwards compared to 1 and having 3 will make us even better. Anyone who laughs at this are proving what complete morons they are.:thumbsu:
-Having Reiwoldt, Post, Vickery and Taylor available should be exciting, but NO, some dumb tiger supporters are still crying over a practice match.
-As with several other tiger supporters I believe jacksons continual spraying of kicks and lack of composure is a problem and I'm hoping Grigg gets a tagging role and forces jackson out of the team. If you think that's funny then good luck
-Nahas, Miller and Tuck are last resort players. Hoping they don't get a game in Round 1 when we have a number of better options with an eye on the future. Give me Helbig in the forward pocket and Houli and Morton on the forward flanks :thumbsu:
-Midfield is full strength. Cotchin, Martin, Foley, Deledio, Grigg, Morton, Houli, Conca all running through there
-Batchelor in defence will allow Deledio some midfield time
-Forget about the practice match result. Don't be mislead by practice matches where players give 90% and not 100%. We have the players, just give them time to gel.

but i think the problem with this thread and your posts inside it, is that you have said this several times before in the past month.

to address a few of your points:

- i think post is another year off, looked very slow last year, hopefully he grows into his CHF role but i think he and astbury should be swapped

- daniel jackson is vastly under-rated by you, at his best he is a B grade player, he provides grunt albeit with a lack of discipline but hopefully this is rectified this season, he tackles hard and will complement the in and under brigade beautifully. Grigg has come here with high expectations and form what ive seen from him at carlton he seems like dan jackson version 2.0

-riewoldt post and vickery will more than likely not play in the same forward line, if a best 22 was compiled and keeping in mind the sub rule there cannot be too many talls in the 21 man on field side for rotation purposes. Troy Taylor is not really a tall forward, a shade under 190, only 6 foot 2 in the old speak

- nahas should be a better forward option king, im hoping his good pre-season form will translate into the regular season, i agree with you about miller but i think tuck should play

- i agree with you about the midfield except for grigg, im not sure about him yet

- a lot of hype on batchelor, not so sure he will step in and play a meaningful role for the entire season, lovely kick though, maybe houli to HBF with connors?? still rather lids there, dont think lids will become that elite midfielder this season. but he does have hodge written all over him

- and i dont think the practice match results can be forgotten, we have looked average and this sort of form doesnt just disappear and soon as the round 1 siren goes.
