Re: RIP Jim

Haven't seen courage like it. Can't believe how deeply it is affecting me. We can't replace this quality of man but we can learn from his humanity and endless commitment to his family, friends, club and those worse off than him.

Re: RIP Jim

There aren't enough words to describe the type of person Jim Stynes was (I hate having to use the word 'was'). He would have known for a very long time that his time was limited, yet he continued to be the selfless person he always was. One of those people that you would have absolutely loved to meet, sit down and talked with for hours on end. It's a sad day for Melbourne, a sad day for AFL supporters and a sad day for the population of genuinely good people.

RIP, Jimmy.

Re: RIP Jim

Terrible news!! Such an inspiring man I just can't believe he's gone. Thoughts are with him and his family...

Re: RIP Jim

RIP Jim. Condolences to his family. To leave your country of birth and leave such a huge legacy in a land on the other side of the world is inspiring. As Juddy said on his Brownlow night, Jim is a real legend.

Re: RIP Jim

A selfless giver to AFL and society. Nature's gentleman

I did not expect to feel as moved as I do.

RIP Jimmy. Your legacy is something we will all cherish.

I completely agree Thy...

In a day and age where people are more interested in themselves, Jim was a man who gave more of himself to others than he took from others into himself.

The world is a lesser place with his loss.

My sincere condolences go out to his family at this time.

You will forever be a legend Jim...

Jim Stynes came and spoke at my school assembly in the late 90s.

Very unassuming, relaxed kind of guy who told us stories about some of the truly awful things that had happened to the people he supported through his work in the community.

His footy achievements are remarkable but they are nothing when compared to what he did for others his whole life.

A truly extraordinary man. Condolences to his family.

Very simply, a bloody champion bloke. Gave everything he had to the MFC. Just a true inspiration to everyone, not only the football world. His legacy will live one.

RIP mate, deepest sympathy to Sam & the kids.

The Chaser Boys once wrote a song called "Even assholes are good guys after death" and that song is often very true. A classic.

In Jimmy Stynes case, i doubt there is a single person who has ever had any contact or knowledge of him who would consider him anything other than a Good Guy.

In public , and in private, anyone who knew of Jimmy Stynes would today be remembering a good man.

"Jimmy Stynes"...there is no words to describe what this man has done for others.
I'm selling Jimmy "cheap" if I just write down the word"inspirational"!!!
Who needs a God when we had the privilege of having this man walk the earth for the time we had him!!!

Condolences to the Stynes family and friends. RIP Jimmae.

I would be lying if I said I didnt shead a tear this morning.

We all knew it would happen one day but its still really moved me so much. Part of me always thought that Jim would beat this horrible disease.

Really feel for his kids and wife. Hope they have some condolance in knowing how much of a true legend their father was.

RIP Jim.

Taken far too young.

The best of us are always taken befor our time

Shattered! My heart felt condolences to his wife, family and all those close to this great man.

I am a private person, but, feel compelled to share. My wife and I have have both had debillitating, career and life changing injuries in the last 2 years. My wife has been able to move on and return to alternate work. I have been house bound up until recent times. Extreme physical challenges I could not face due to mental issues resulting from our own "tragedies". A few months ago, after another episode for Jim, I had an awakening, he IS an inspiration. His achievements, the trials he continued to face with such courage and selflessness. I was inspired and some what embarassed. I am now improving mobility daily, I will never be 100%, but hope to...NO...WILL resume some sort of reasonable "life" soon.

I am a life long sports fan and have many "idols", Family aside, there is only one man for whom I can honestly state a reverence. I never had the pleasure of meeting the man, but, like many others, Jim has changed my life.

JIMMY STYNES, YOUR BODY HAS FAILED, YOUR LIGHT WILL SHINE FOREVER

Rest in peace.

Truly sad day and it is devastating watching the news right now.

Watching him with his young kids and family really hits home when you have a family of your own and it is always the best that get taken way to early. How do you tell your kids that Daddy is not waking up. :(

State funeral is a massive achievement and full credit to him. The man was a fighter and a Melbourne Football Club stallwart that took the club from the brink to viable with many bright years ahead of them.

Words cannot put into the context what his family may be feeling and it is great that they were by his side every step of the way in his fight with this terrible disease. He will be missed by many and was a much loved player and advocate of our game.

R.I.P Jim and sincere condolences to his family and all who knew him as he touched many along the way to his path of greatness and will never be forgotten.

Very Sad day.

What can you say that hasn;t already been said about Jim

I work with people who aren;t into Footy and even they were talking of him today.

He really changed peoples lives,

A real great

Sad day.

If you were compiling a list of people who have served our community, this wonderful Irishman would make 'All Australian'. It is tragic to contemplate what he may have done in the second half if given a decent innings but even sadder for such young children to have lost their father.
