A good mate of mine who used to post on the Carlton board, sometimes under my name, today took his life.
He loved the Carlton Football Club and his football in general.
I post this thread in fond memory of him.
RIP mate.
Ox.
R.I.P and condolences to all concerned from all the Kangaroos threadders...

I'm feeling overwhelmed by the feelings portrayed by the Carlton supporters.
Amazing.
I let the family know about the thread and they were,in a word, wrapped.

Songs for the service will be;
CARLTON club song
into
The last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley

A request to Old Dark Navy
Would you mind if your words were used in a part of the Eulogy.
(just a couple of minor changes.)

Pete knew the thrills and the spills the mighty Blues had to offer. The flags, the legends, the history. The Blues have been a shining light during all the other struggles that go with the territory known as life. Knowing somebody had some joy in their life is a comforting thought, wherever that joy may come from.

RIP Pete

My thoughts are with Pete's family and friends. You sound like a great fella Oxx, and Pete's family is very lucky to know Pete had friends like you and are there to support them during this tragic time.

Hope you are ok too Oxx. It's nice that you are thinking of the family. Make sure you think of yourself too.

I'll make a note Windows.
Thanx.

To everybody who expressed their condolences to my family,(OXX included), over the recent passing of my little brother Pete, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I think OXX encompassed how surprising and unusually comforting it was to feel your support during the saddest and hardest time of our lives. My brother Pete was Carlton through and through. He loved the Navy Blues, lived and breathed 'rutt da dutt da dah'. He, like most of you, enjoyed many successful years, many stirring victories and as his brother (being a Collingwood die hard) I was told all about it in no uncertain terms. We both attended the '79 and '81 GF's together so I got to witness how much joy it brought to his life. Anyway I'm getting a bit choked up so I'll leave you with thanks and tip you to back the Blue Boys in 2006, if Pete has any pull upstairs you'll go a long way towards reaching the ultimate glory and remain the most successful club (on-field) in the AFL. Best wishes to all ;)

Hey adam, who was your little bro's favourite carlton player? Current day, and all time?
By the way that's a fantastic choice of music to tribute your brother, if he was a jeff buckley fan he had very very good taste. Very emotional music that.

DSOF. You are right, not the place to discuss it. This is a personal issue. If you want to make a general social comment, the Society and Culture board is the place for it.

IMO, you have to walk a mile in another man's shoes before you even begin to understand them.

I'll prob get nasty comments and it prob itsnt the place to discuss such an event <edited>

In a thread created out of respect, you're probably right "it isn't the place to discuss such an event" ... you need to go have a good hard look at yourself son

I reckon if you wanna rag on someone you do it when they're alive, to their face. When they're gone it should be a time for reflection and celebration.

So, I wanna know who his favourite players were!

Dont get me wrong im not ragging on him at all. At the same time would you like me to start a thread on the mates I lost several years ago in a car wreck. They were huge Blues fans. Care to know who their favourite players were?

Hey Deej, no problem pal. Pete's favourite player all time was SOS, loved him. Favourite captain -Sticks, favourite big game player -Dominator (especially against pies), as a kid he loved -The Flying Doormat, Braddles used get his blood pumping, there were just so many that he raved about, Ken Hunter, Wayne Harmes etc.. He wanted for Whitnal to be a superstar so badly, really liked the look of Waite, thought he had the potential to be anything. Just typing now brings back his voice, freaking me out gotta go.. Good-Luck
