Carlton need to throw everything they can at this boy to get him to the club, he is exactly what we need in the midfield and fits perfectly into our youth policy and he is out of contract. Riscetelli is the man we need in the guts a big bodied hard running hard ball winning clearance machine that can lift our midfield to where it needs to be, especially with Kouta at the age he is and if he does decide to play next year will spend most of his time forward with short cameos in the middle.

This kid is the x factor we need to go forward and also gives us the luxury to play Stevens and Scotland across half back full time, ala Mcleod and Johncock, where they can set up our forward attacks from defence as quarterbacks which is where the game is heading. If we take Gibbs in the draft and recruit Riscitelli as well as the midfielders we already have we will have a midfield for the future. Imagine Gibbs, Riscetelli, Murphy, Walker, Bentick, Blackwell, Simpson all rotating through the guts, a formidable combination by anyones standard. We can then take a ruckman with our second pick and our centre square combo is finished.:thumbsu:

I agree with it all, but I think Stevens won't with us next year, we will capitilise on this years draft. Stevens will be overtaken next year by so many others in our side that play mid field and Stevens can't play back because he can't take a mark.

We should target the best player but I if we draft Gibbs and another midfiedler thwn Meesen should be our number one target. I don't think we'll get either of them or a good player in the PSD because we're such an unattractive club at the moment, but increased pressure on either of their salary caps is a bonus nonetheless.

Like who?

I can't think of anyone bar Walker and Murphy who could overtake him next year going on talent.

Carrazzo - no
Bentick - no
Houlihan - stay off the drugs
Scotland - cheap kicks like Stevens and plays wide of his opponent, see his game against Dale Thomas
Blackwell - still young and developing
Jackson - rookie

Our midfield is terrible and there aren't that many options lining up for a game up who are better than Nick.

Walker, Murhy, Simpson, Scotland (can atleast take a overhead mark), Russell (likely). I am also taking into consideration the further decline of Stevens game which has become a trend not to mention his leadership credentials.

Stop targeting players from other clubs. Gee whiz we're gone down that path before and look where's it's gotten us. WHo says that the Brisbane player will do any good with us anyway ? Nick Stevens is a high price recruit has hardly set the world on fire.

Simpson, Walker and Murphy are good but the rest aren't better than Stevens.

You wouldn't get a good pick for them in this year's draft.

Have you seen Stevens play recently (ie since 2000)?

Would take Blackwell ahead of him already. Scotland also is far superior to Nick based on current form. Even Betts could be rotated through there. Lets face it Nick has talent but no connection to his heart. Didn't at Port either.

Riscetelli is already a very different prospect to what Nick was at Port. He has shown he can play under pressure and that he has his head under control. He would be imo a great pickup.

Don't forget the backline. What about developing a quality backline, especially a CHB. Someone like Hansen would be great. But it all depends where we finish 15th or 16th I suppose. Pagan has suggested trying/playing Waite at CHB, what do you think? When you look at most premiership sides, they have always had quality backlines, and esytablishing a quality backline is not to be overlooked.

The phrase "will be overtaken next year", means next year I could see that happenning. Future prediction !. I didn't say now, and you can't honestly say STevens has been better than Scotland this season.

In conjuction with Rischitelli we should also be targeting Brisbanes old recruiting and player developement manager. I can't remember his name, but he is responsible for selecting Rischitelli, Sherman, Black, Hadley among others. From all reports he had a falling out with Leigh, which seems to be a common theme at the moment.

Can someone tell me his name?

What has Wayne Hughes done wrong that he needs to be replaced?

It can't hurt having a experienced consultant on recruiting who has the runs on the board. Also, he could be more involved in the developement area of the draftee's as a full-time position. This is definitely a area we need to improve.
