Rising Star 08 Odds

Was having a look at some odds for the 08 season when I noticed that there are odds for the rising star available (must have been put up recently) here.
Dempsey and Houli at $34 and Jetta and Myers at $41 look like good value.

I think Leuenberger at $14, Palmer at $16 and Ebert at $26 are also good value from the non-essendon players.

Near impossible to pick isn't it. A bolter could come from anywhere.
I agree with Tom Hawkins as favorite, but Kruezers odds are way to short.
He dominated the kids, but he will be rucking against full bodied, experienced men now. He will be dominated for a year or two until he learns to ruck in the AFL.

Andrejs Everitt would be a very good chance.

Of the Bombers, put 5 - 10 bucks on all of them, they are all showing very good odds. Neagle would be my value bet.

Just got a bit of a feeling about this bloke in 2008, despite the setbacks.

I can't see Hawkins not winning it if he stays injury free. Apparently he's had a great pre-season and N.Ablett has left him a free key forward spot. This added with an awesome midfield gives him a great chance.

He did struggle for consistency in 2007 though, with some pretty up and down VFL form.

There's no such thing as a sure thing disregarding injuries.

Don't rate Kruezers chances very highly, especially being as raw as he looks.

Certainly the kind of guy that will play the games to win it.

He might be held back a bit by not having huge amounts of flair and he won't have great numbers behind him I wouldn't think. Past winners in guys like Selwood, Pearce and Deledio have each had one or both of those things behind them.

Still, at his price, he's probably worth a few bucks.

Doubt he'll play much in 2008, even for Richmond to be honest. Fullbacks take a while.

dont know with a backline as weak as Richmonds I would be surprised if he played the majority of the season to speed up his development by playing him on a HBF.

At $34 Courteney Dempsey is great value. Question mark over his ability to stay on the park.

Is training the house down and has a couple of years under his belt now.

Jetta also pretty good value given that he looks a far more established player even on the track than where he was at last year.

Rance isn't quick enough to play on a flank, he's a key position prospect that could pinch hit as a third tall.

Word is that the Tiges have a fair bit of faith in McGuane and Thursfield as key defenders with assistance from Polak and Bowden.

Rance could play a few games, but he's a long shot to be a regular.

Exactly, he'll be a pretty decent shot at the Rising Star in 2009 (although Rich is odds on to get that award) but not this year. Rance may play 5 games give and take 2-3 each way.
